Yes. Well, a little bit anyway.

Spoiler: TC - Ho!

It's coming out later this spring on Cartoon Network, the voices of the main cast are new, but the actor who played Lion-O in the original series now plays ... Claudius, I believe? Maybe Jaga. Hmmm ... anyway.

The only new actor who has been announced so far is Matthew Mercer, who plays Tygra.

And yes, Snarf will be in it.

It will be in a separate continuity from the original series ... In other words, it's a remake.

Haven't they said that Snarf will be a lot less Snarfy? I remember that as standing out from the bits that have come out the last few months.

I do like that they kept the character designs pretty much the same and for the most part just updated the art style.

Loved this show when I was a nipper, though like a lot of the crap I used to watch back then (He-Man, Transformers, The Real Ghostbusters) it really doesn't hold up very well so I'm glad it's getting a fresh new take.

Agreed that the basic design ethos appears to be faithful to the source material but with a much sleeker, anime inspired style. Normally I'm not a fan of western animation mimicking anime too closely, but somehow with a show about cat people it seams totally appropriate.

Cheetara looks interesting, kind of an early 80's rock'n'roll waif look. They kind of went more young and weedy with Lion-O and more big guy with Panthro but overall not objectionable. Tigra definitely looks cooler.

And that makes sense within the context of ThunderCats. Lion-O, Kit, and Kat are all the same age. During the trip from Thundera, Lion-O's chryo-pod thingy malfunctioned and his body aged like normal. The rest were in suspended animation. So while his body grew to adult, his mind was still the same age as Kit and Kat.

He grew up quickly on Third Earth, but still.

I'm wondering if this is a nod to that.

The sword looking the same is a good thing, then i saw the picture of the sword in the display case, that one kinda scares me. I do like the nunchucks with the same hot and cold colors stayed the same for the most part. But why does Pantro have to be balding?

He was completely "bald" in the original series, but he was also depicted generally as being the team's "old war horse" too, IMO...

I'm mixed on Panthro, though I'm keeping an open mind. I'm not sure why he looks so brawny compared to his original design, whereas the other characters are much closer to those designs.
