Interesting. I think doing another live action TMNT movie would be an interesting undertaking. (So long as the Turtles were mostly done "in camera" and not with CGI.)

Yeah an odd take on The Foot. I though they were going to gas April's apartment. Wonder where I could have gotten that idea from? ;)

Still, the "concept" looked interesting and with a darker tone and modern production values a live-action TMNT movie would be cool. I still think the original (first) movie was well done for its time and budget and really the only thing I don't like about that movie is that they completely botched up in the selection of actress for April. (They did better for the second movie but the 2nd movie dipped too far into cartoonishness.) We won't mention the third movie.

With a great story & decent budget a darker TMNT live action movie would be awesome.

The original movie had the somewhat "darker" tone. It's mostly harmed by the tighter budget (mostly all blown on the Jim Henson Creature Shop animatronics and costumes) and some casting (namely the woman playing April.) And I don't even think its story is too bad though the "B-Plot" with Danny (? the news director's son) held it back a bit and, again, by not casting someone a bit more attractive as April. I mean look at her interpretation in the cartoon and then the woman playing April in the first movie. WTF?!

It's odd to me that a franchise that was such a hot property back then (the cartoon series and comics and toys were all doing well) would've gotten such a low-budget movie.

The CGI movie that came out a few years ago was okay but I think harmed by the odder take on the "universe", maybe drawing too much from the present day comics/cartoons and being all CGI.

I'd like to see a new, all live action, origin story routed a bit more in the 'mundane' with The Foot being an aggressive group of thieves or an organized Asian mafia-like group headed by The Shredder rather than the other-wordly stuff brought into the mix by the CG movie.

With all of the other comic book characters we're getting, Iron-Man, Thor, Green Lantern, Captain America, a Spider-man reboot, etc. I would be surprised if another take on TMNT isn't in the pipeline somewhere. I just hope they do it right and not bog it down with too much silliness and kiddyness.

This thing reminded me of the Mortal Kombat: Rebirth short. I enjoyed it. The foot did seem a bit odd design wise, other than that I didn't have a problem with them. April was hot and I liked the pause between Ralph and April. Ralph looked like he was examining her and she was terrified by mystified too.

I loved TMNT...the CGI was great and I wasn't bothered by the story...I can see a casual movie goer or younger audience members not connecting with it though.

A realistic take like you mentioned Trekker would be great...but it would take Nolan type commitment to the story for it to work.

Oddly enough, Nolan is who I was thinking of when it came to "doing it right."

TMNT was an average movie at best. I liked the use of Karai and SMG as the voice of April. I would have liked to have seen a sequel. Kevin Munroe stated that if he had a shot at a second he would have told a more basic, traditional Turtles story. I also think he hinted that Shredder could have returned.

I also think TMNT would work as a live action TV series.

You have young April O'Neal in HS and she reports for her school paper, Casey Jones is a high profile school jock and the Shredder is the principle of the school with a after hours criminal syndicate. I am laughing while typing this...

    :D

[edit] Each week April is pining over Casey and the Turtles take turns pining over April. ;)

More TMNT = good to me.

This was fine, but too dark to really see anything.

The CGI in TMNT4 was fantastic.

    Looks pretty good!
As for a Turtles remake, I'd love to see Nolan's take on it.

Only in the sense that the CGI in Toy Story is "fantastic."

It was a cartoon. To be taken as "live action" it failed in more than a few ways.

Don't get me wrong it was a good looking "cartoon" but I'm not convinced that in a live action TMNT movie CGI could work unless only used for the Turtles' faces for when they talk. (Other than the clumsy animatronics used int he 90s films) But the bulk of the live action turtles should be guys in suits.

    That was actually really good.

    And: Hottest. April. Ever.

I also agree that a modernized live action film with the original Turtles would be kick-ass.

Wouldn't have to be Nolan though. Someone else has to step-up, or his brand will lose some of its oomph.
