Not only that, but after you do a few STFs, you can buy anti-Borg epic bat'leths, which mow them down like wheat.

Ahhh got it!!! hehe. Yeah it's all good. I am really impressed with Dshal and how he has been improving the game hand over fist and actually lisenting to the players on what improvements to make. They are coming slowly but surely. I wish Dshal was in charge from the git-go and we wouldn't be asking for these changes a year into the game! lol His description of how shuttles will eventually work was like music to my ears! That is why I have chosen to take advantage of the sale on lifetime sub and get it. This game may not be perfect now, but feel like it will eventually get there!

Yeah, I want one of those, but I haven't gotten to do enough STFs to afford it. I actually haven't done khitomer or terradome because no one seems to be interested when I'm on.

Invest in a Champions free to play account instead. If enough people spend a little and the business model makes enough money as a result, STO could follow the same model in a couple of years' time.

I had thought about that. I was reading the STO forums, and they said that they're already considering making STO F2P, based on how Champions turns out, which would be awesome.

I haven't done any of the STF's yet, though I'm extremely interested in doing them.

Considering re-upping during the lifetime sale, but even the discussion over going F2P eventually has me hesitating.

Also would like to see them focus more on either making more ranks, or slowing things down, so that characters don't max out within a few months of light/moderate playing. Can always make another one, but after a point, should be able to keep building on things. IMO they made a serious mistake by letting you level so quickly, if the level cap is only 51. That would be fine if it took a long time (and it should), but when a half-dozen patrols gets you another rank, you quickly max out and can't upgrade your crew, everyone's flying around in uber-ships, etc...

This right here is what I see as the biggest weakness to the game. And keep in mind that I've pretty consistently supported the game because of the progress I feel it's made. Supposedly PVP still sucks, but I dont care about PVP. lol.

The storyline and everything else keeps getting better and better in my opinion, with the addition of the new sets of episodes ever couple months keeping me interested. But still, as you said, you max out far to quickly.

That was my complaint. I only bought a 6 month subscription to play it, and wasn't obsessive about playing it (a mission or two a couple nights a week, maybe a couple hours on a weekend day, and took plenty of time off, even missed most of the last month of my sub because of my wedding/honeymoon) Despite all that, character is maxed out, have the biggest ships, and can't upgrade my character anymore (not even the skill points).

Seems funny that the character is maxed out when only about 1/2 (or slightly more) of the possible skill points are assigned, but hey, guess you really have to pick strengths and weaknesses.

Not excited to sign up for a lifetime sub, with the implication that I'll be playing for several more years, if I'm basically already 'finished' with my character. That shouldn't happen in a MMO game, definitely not this quickly.

This puts you in the situation where you are just grinding out random crap missions (collect samples, blow up 5 enemy ships) for no reason or benefit. The weekly missions are great, but honestly, I don't want to be paying a constant subscription for an hour mission once a week, with several week breaks between sets. That's 5-6 hours of mission a month, and the monthly rate really doesn't make that worth it.

The endgame for this one just sucks, and comes way too early. I ENJOYED the game, for the most part, and even want to keep playing, I just don't want to drop a couple hundred dollars to keep playing a game I've essentially already beaten once.

I'm mostly a single player game kinda guy anyway, so it also annoys me that I've paid $40 for the game, $75 for my 6 month sub, and right now, I would still have to pay them money if I wanted to play this game again. I like the model where buying the game means you can actually play the damned thing if you want. And you don't waste money if you can't play for a couple weeks, or just take time off. It's now at the point where you can get the game for basically nothing, but pissed that we initially had to buy a game that we ALSO had to pay to play.

The money issue was another annoyance of mine. I bought a 6 month sub for $75, to see if I'd like it, and I did for the most part. Seems like if you want to buy a lifetime sub at that point, it should really let you count some or all of the initial purchase as part of the lifetime fee. By not committing before i got a chance to really try it, i essentially lost that $75. It's not bad when you think about it on a per-month basis, but when you add it up, they're asking me for $40 to buy it, $75 for my 6 month sub, and now $300 for the lifetime (the sale knocks that down, but still). That's $415 for this game, which seems like a lot. Especially when the leveling aspect makes it such a short one before you have to just grind out missions for no benefit, or start over every 6 months...

Also thinking that if I am going to buy a lifetime sub anyway, maybe I'm better off doing the Star Wars KOTOR game, so at least I haven't already beaten it or thrown money at it.

Honestly, what i've been doing is letting my sub drop, then re-subscribing when the next set of missions start being released. During that time I'll play something else. I tend to get bored if i play only one game anyway, so I switch a lot.

Is this game worth it? City of Villains was awesome until the server I was on emptied out...and at the time I couldn't move my character to a different server.

Well that's really a personal opinion, and dont let anyone tell you they know the absolute right answer.

One of the things I like about this game is that it can be done almost entirely solo. You don't find yourself in positions where you are overwhelmed like you do on some other MMOs where you end up finding yourself running around some populated area asking for people to go with you.

On the other hand... it's a bit easy. As other have said it takes far to little time to max out your character. Although not maxing out the skill points doesnt bother me so much as it seems to others.

I like some of the story lines. Although i wish they were a little more developed in some area's. You hear all about whats going on in such and such a sector, then once you are done you dont hear anything about it again.

But, they are adding to it, so we'll see what happens. I think the Dividian weekly set is probably my favorite set of missions now. Before that it was the one with the guardian of forever. Which to me means that they are improving.

Again, from what I hear PVP still leaves a bit to be desired, so if you are looking for that then probably not. But otherwise for me personally, I'd say it's worth it. Even though i take breaks from the game, if I had the money for the lifetime sub I would probably get it.

I would wait until it goes free to play. It's okay and the improvements they made are good, but it's just not worth $15 a month.

That could be a long wait, since there are no current plans to make it free to play ever.

Yeah, with the event of Star Trek: Infinate Space coming (which looks to be the superior game), I am still wrestling over getting the lifetime sub for this game with the upcoming sale. I will probably pull the trigger and do it, as I actually really like the game, and like what I wam hearing for all the fixes coming. I am just wondering if it would be easier to simply reboot and make a STO 2.0 with all the flaws in the game?

You must be watching different videos than I am; it looks to me like a really crappy game with fantastic cinematic sequences, and all the videos showing a ton of the cinematics and quick cut-throughs on the gameplay. Sounds like their budget is 10% of STO's too.

But I'd love to see gameplay vids that aren't like that, if you've got 'em to share.
