Favorite Star Trek symbols/logos

So, what are your favorite Star Trek symbols, logos, rank insignia, flags, badges, hull markings, great seals - anything like that? Personally, I can't decide my ultimate favorite - there are many really cool designs.

Some sites with such stuff:

ST Minutiae - Symbology:

EAS Galleries (go to Symbols and Script section):

My very favorite is the TNG Combadge. I grew up with that design, and seeing as the very first episode or Star Trek that I saw was TNG.

My Second Favorite is the Voy Combadge, and my third favorite is the Starfleet emblem, top row, far right.

Yes, comm-badges are the true icon of Star Trek.

I just want you to know that you are -not- limited to the symbols on the picture above. Have you visited the two websites above? The early Starfleet logos are nice too, as well as the Romulan ''bird'' symbol.

ToMaHaKeR, you should only be posting images that you are hosting, either from your own site or from a hosting service. Posting images that are hosted from a site that is not your own is constitutes bandwidth theft and is a warnable offense here. Do not do this again. Tips on how to properly host an image can be found in the board's FAQ page.

I have already changed the image you posted earlier to a link.

I was always keen on the shipboard logos created for TMP that stuck around for most of TOS movies.

The transporter up/down arrows with the guy inside,
the tactical crosshairs symbol, and some others.
I'm sure you know what I'm talking about.

I did not actually know this.

And is "bandwidth theft" even a "thing", or just some new term made up that sounds cool?

Either way........weird.

AstroSmurf, it won't happen again, I was in a rush... So, posting images from ImageShack or Photobucket is OK? For all other images, I will use a link from now on. Thanks for a notice.

Websites are not free, especially one with as much content as TrekCore. But exactly "what" a site owner is paying for is a bit confusing. The owner of a website is not paying for the site itself. Most companies will host it for free. What they are paying for is bandwidth, or the amount of data being downloaded from the site on a monthly basis. So when you are posting a picture hosted on a site that does not belong to you, you are using the bandwidth they are paying for without their knowledge. It would be like jacking into someone's electricity or siphoning off fuel from their car for yourself. And with a message board as busy as this one the bandwidth required to download that image into each individual browser every time the thread is hit can add up to an enormous amount very very quickly.

Again, this act is frowned upon here and will not be tolerated. This is something that we consider a serious issue.

Sounds good. Let me know if you any other questions.

I prefer the Voyager commbadge logo and GK Designs' commbadge logo.

I really like the future trek combadge design from All Good Things and I think it was used in The Visitor as well. I also like the Romulan symbol.

Okay - cool -I didn't know ANY of this. I thought you were making up a term, you know, like "considerate Gen Yer's" or something.

I like the various STXI versions of the TOS arrowhead symbol. They stylized/changed them just a little bit. The plain gold ones looked really neat on the both the cadet uniform collars and the instructor's uniforms.

The Wrath of Khan (etc.) badge was my favourite as a kid. Very distinguished and Air Force-y.

I was also fascinated that Wesley got an all-silver TNG badge. It looked neater than the gold/silver ones - and he wasn't even a real crewmember!

To me there weren't any bad designs and there weren't any extremely good designs. I liked them all.

Oh, I think the Klingon insignia is an excellent design. It’s original, doesn’t look quite like anything that came before, and is instantly recognizable. It looks aggressive and warlike. The angular shapes suggest two curved-bladed scimitars and a dagger, and the whole thing is ever so slightly reminiscent of the Nazi swastika.

Oops -- GODWINNED!
