Is Star Trek 12 going to be a "rush job"?

A'la X-Men:First Class and Iron Man 2?

I mean, the release date is May 2012. Its nearing the end of January 2011. They don't even have a script yet. How the heck are they supposed to meet the deadline?

How is X-Men: First Class a rush job? They've been in production since November. As for Star Trek as I mentioned in the other thread I think it was a mistake for Paramount to announce a release date right away and I think that they will have no choice but to push back the date to Christmas.

I still think if it gets pushed back, it gets pushed back to Memorial Day weekend of 2013. Does anyone know if filming in 3D adds any time to the production of a film?

Shouldn't add any time to the actual principal photography at all but it does add an additional layer of complexity to post production though it shouldn't be too much of a time penalty.

Didn't Meyer have to redo the script quickly for star trek 2?
Not that its ideal of course but hte quality of a script depends on the writer and how much interference they get from executives who dont know what theyre talking about.

Didn't Star Trek VI get done quickly after they spent time on things like Starfleet Academy ideas?

Also, I haven't been following this much. How did Trek XI get released in May '09, and there's no script for the new one in Jan. '11? What have they been doing for a year and a half, counting their profits from the last movie?

They've done other projects like Fringe, M:I:4, Transformers 2, Super 8, Cowboys & Aliens. We have to remember that alot of pre production for XI went to casting, set design, ship design, etc. Well alot of that is already done. Pre production can get started without the script just from the outline according to Orci.

I would only think it'd be a "rush" job if it's early fall of this year and it just starts filiming. At this point, we're still a year and a half away from the release date so just relax a little.

If they still don't have a script, it is a little worrying. Has everyone forgotten the Superman 2 by Brian Singer fiasco? :rommie:

^ Huh? You still haven't stated how X-Men: First Class is a rush job.
They started shooting in August for a May next-year release. Even Transformers and other movies slated for June/July releases started shooting long before. We haven't seen even a moving teaser for it. Neither have we seen any "officially official" production shots. The ones released were a rushed upon release to contain the damage from the badly photoshopped dark leaked photo of the cast. Even the director was mad at that. So there, you have the proof.

Granted the photoshopped picture was bad. I grant that. The pictures though have been released since though have all been great in my opinion and don't reflect a rush job. A teaser trailer is coming. This is a major blockbuster movie. Things have been on the hush-hush to prevent leaks and what not. Fox has been pretty sensitive about that due to the Wolverine fiasco. I'm not worried at all about First Class.

And let's not forget that Star Trek XI started shooting in October 2007 for an originally slated Christmas 2008 release date.

^And that they hit that deadline, and the film was pushed down for financial reasons only. So we know they can do it.
