Just saw it and loved it! Fantastic! Matt Smith was excellent as usual along with the costars and guest stars. The story doesn't hold up under scrutiny by, ah well, all in all, a great ride.

Mr Awe

I liked it.

It was a good hour to escape into and fun to be part of while recovering from mass protein ingestion. :)

The stroy was ok, the acting was spot on for Smith and Gillan and especially Gambon, and i was somewhat impressed with Catherine Jenkins aswel, she was actually quite a good actress.

The part with the fireplace still cracks me up though.

Nice to see Athur Darvill with an opening credits credit, hope that continues over to season 6.

I loved the almost instant memory The Doctor was creating when he went back to see young Kasdan. The way old Kasdan described it was similar to the way they explained it in the movie 'Frequency' where he remembered the original timeline and also rembered the updated timeline, thus remembering the changes that had happened. *Crosseyed*

And Eleven and Kasdan not only got to wear a fez each, they had Four's scarff aswel.;)

And we got a season 6 trailer aswel as always, looks cool. Those dolls look creeepy as hell though.

"Bring me a pot of coffee, 12 jammy dodgers and a fez"

I think that's the River/Utah two-parter because River also has those marks and Amy's wearing the same outfit.

I was disappointed that there wasn't more Amy & Rory. I love those guys.

But the main story did have a great emotional core. And I like that, between this episode & "The Big Bang," Moffat seems to be playing around a lot more with time travel as a story point, rather than just a quick device to jump to different scenarios. Literally going back in time to improve his childhood was a stroke of genius and the most reinvigorating thing to happen to the Dickens classic since Muppets.:p

And Eleven and Kazaran not only got to wear a fez each, they had Four's scarf as well.;)

And young Kazaran's outfit was reminiscent of the 2nd doctor's

When it comes to Doctor Who, I've learnt to stop nitpicking at "holes in the plot" and just enjoyed the episodes. Because, to be honest, I have come to realize I may not be smart enough or alert enough to pick up on the hints explained the plot holes. This is especially true with Steven Moffat who's stories can be incredibly convoluted and complex. The complexity has reached a point where I sometimes wonder if viewers can understand what's happening in half the episodes, or if they don't understand it would they still enjoy the episode?

I think that's a question only you can answer - Are you still enjoying the episodes?

I just had a chance to re-watch this last night and can't believe I didn't like it as much as I thought I would on the first go-around. Just brilliant. Matt is at his best as the Doctor. I like the fairy tale theme that Moffat is exploring during his watch as showrunner and something that I've felt is very much attributed to "Doctor Who". There is something magical and wondrous about traveling through space and time with a mysterious, enigmatic man who changes his face when he dies.

I thought the stuff on the starship was brilliant, along with the references to "Star Trek" and the ship's captain was hot. Katherine Jenkins was brilliant and breathtakingly beautiful in the special. Michael Gambon was terrific as the Scrooge like Kazran. I liked the idea of Kazran growing up each year and falling in love with Abigail, but really it was love at first sight for him. Sad that Amy and Rory weren't in this more but they both made their impact in the episode. I find it amusing that the Doctor was so mesmerized and distracted by Abigail's song that he didn't pay more attention to her lyrics! Silence will fall, indeed.

^ Yeah, A Christmas Carol is great. An absolute delight. Loved when teen Kazran asks the Doctor what he should do next (re Abigail) and the reply is "I have absolutely no idea!".

I find myself constantly going back and rewatching the first and last few minutes of this one.

I love the early scenes between Gambone and Smith ... especially the bit that leads up to the Doctor entering Kazran's secret project recording. "See? Way back! I wish I could see your face right now!"
