Spider-Man movie (casting, rumors, pix till release)

The suit sucks; the one used in the Raimi movies was much better.

I don't care if he shoots webbing out of his butt - if the movie looks like crap, it's crap.

^ Well now Batman doesn't have to do that thanks to Lucius Fox's new smart mask he designed :) The web-shooters over time have been redesigned and tweaked by various artists. The original Ditko one's were pretty large and clunky. I assume the metal alone would have been heavy on a normal human's writs. The web-shooters now a bit sleeker and less clunky and the tanks are smaller looking than they used to be. I don't have a pic with me or else I'd post it.

Off topic a bit...I believe Marvel released this pic and the Captain America one (even though that wasn't official but from EW) in response to DC's Flashpoint teasers, maybe not direct response but at least to generate discussion of their own properties.
Seem pretty slick to me

Less iconic, more emo. Now his wisecracks will be more ironic than just funny. His webs will come from slits in his wrist.

Yeah, kind of the impression I get. He seems like he's going to be a complete emo DB. (Again judging simply from the look in these publicity photos.) I bet he'll spend his off-hours writing poetry and watching The Crow.

If I ever rub a lamp and a genie pops out, I'm going to wish for everyone who's used that ridiculous word to burst into flame.

I prefer the Raimi suit in just about every way, but I think the colors look better in this one, provided that's how they'll look in the movie.

The belt missing and the big spider icon kind of reminds me of the "Spider-Pheonix" costume Spider-man wore in one issue...

One thing I like about the new suit is that it looks a little worn and torn. Maguire's suit, for the most part, always looked clean and perfect. Garfield's suit seems a bit more realistic.

The first suit looked cooler, but this suit looks more homemade. I guess it depends on which you prefer.

I like the more homemade look. It makes more sense if Peter is making his costume from scratch with materials and equipment he has at his disposal. Plus, the black webbing makes the red and blue stand out better in my opinion.

The only real complaints I have is that, at least from that photo, the emblem doesn't really come out at you like I feel it should, and removal of the red "belt" seems a bit jarring. Other than that, I like Garfield's lankier frame, which seems to suit Spider-Man more (no pun intended) than Maguire's more shapely frame did.

It looks like Peter just got his ass handed to him in that pic...he looks frustrated as well. The emblem might be the only thing that bothers me, but maybe this is just a work in progress costume? Peter hasn't refined the design?

Oh...wait...anyone who says they've never seen a moody/downcast Peter Parker/Spider-man depiction simply hasn't read the book. They haven't even looked at the covers.

Which, of course, makes it more emo.

ARRRRRGAAHHHHHAAHAH make it stop!!!!!

I don't really get "homemade" from that suit at all.

Well, it got shredded in his fights with the Goblin and Doc Ock.

Hmm. Not a big fan, liked the prior version better. But, like the Green Lantern suit, we'll have to see it in motion to better judge.

It definitely got cut up and torn in Raimi's films, but for the most part it always looked very pristine. Of course, this one still could be after a fight he had with The Lizard or some other villain, which is why it looks so worn and torn, but I guess as the first official picture from the film, it gives me a more ragged vibe than I ever got from Raimi's films.
