Police arrest man in murder of wife

It kind of seems that 2011 is off to a bad start.

Lisa Zielinski, 38, was found dead at her home in the 800 block of Nightingale Court NE, Keizer police said.

Zielinski’s husband, Peter Zielinski, has been arrested on a murder charge, police spokesman Capt. Jeff Kuhns said.

Peter Zielinski, 39, contacted police this morning using an after-hours phone at the police department and said his wife needed an ambulance, Kuhns said. ...

Police think Lisa Zielinski’s death was criminal in nature, though they haven’t released any details as to the cause or manner of death.

More here.

I don't know this couple, their story does not affect me at all. But it resonates, but I can't help but feel saddness. My heart goes out to their two children, I hope that the extended family will be able to help them through this terrible time.

Maybe this gets to me because the police believe this was the result of domestic violence.

What's crazy is that the husband calls the police department for an ambulance, not 911...

Sometimes there is something about a case that just touches you.

We had a case here in Australia a couple of days ago that really upset me. Like you, I didn't know the family, and yet was filled with great sadness.

The 18 year old girl arrived at her mother's house with her boyfriend. The mother allowed her in but refused to admit the boyfriend. He waited outside. He heard them arguing loudly and tried to get into the house but was unable to. he went to the neighbours for help and then returned to the house. He looked inside and saw his girlfriend covered in blood. He tried to get in to rescue his girlfriend and then saw that the house was on fire.

The police ended up finding 4 bodies, the mother, the 18 year old daughter, a 13 year old daughter and an 11 year old son. The 18 and the 11 year old were both stabbed.

They probably won't ever be able to work out exactly why this mother killed her children. I really feel sorry for the boyfriend.

Yikes Miss Chicken, that's a terrible and sad story. What makes a parent do something like that... I hope not to ever know.

And you are right, sometimes there's something that touches you. I guess for me, this one does. I recently got married, so maybe that's one reason why this one really got to me.

Another one that has affected me in the last two months is a bank bombing trial (happened back in December 2008). The trial lasted over a month, and it was hard not to think about. That was made worse when the jury reccommended a death sentence for the father and son responcible. Just makes me sick.

According to the father of the youngest two children she had been mentally unwell since their youngest child died of SIDS in 2000. The father is angry that she was given custody and that child services refused to tell him where the children were.

Aaah, nice negative stories.

I was going to find something nice and positive to post here but unfortuantely no newspaper that I am aware of deals in good news. So here's a nice morbid piece from The Age that might get you thinking.

Sad truth behind the numbers of Facebook friends

Aditya Chakrabortty

January 13, 2011

At 10.53pm on Christmas Day, Simone Back posted her last update on Facebook. It read: ''Took all my pills be dead soon so bye bye every one.'' One of her friends responded: ''She ODs all the time and she lies.'' Another chimed in: ''She has a choice and taking pills over a relationship is not a good enough reason''. Others argued among themselves about whether it was a bluff.
Of the 1048 people listed on Facebook as a friend of Back, not one checked up on her. She died at 5.05pm on Boxing Day. Shortly after, her mother wrote this: ''My daughter Simone passed away today so please leave her alone now.''
Who, besides the author and seventy year old who don't use the net, is surprised to read that the word 'friend' in facebook speak carries no weight?

Anyway, have fun wallowing in morbidity.

Wait... so he kills her and THEN calls the cops? How does that even make any sense? :wtf:

A couple days back I read a story about a woman in India who bludgeoned her husband to death with a cricket stump after he objected to her seeing other men and then dumped his body in a sewage treatment tank and all I could think was 'how on earth do you bludgeon someone to death with a cricket stump?'

The newspaper in my area has a "good news" feature every day on the local front. They are just boring as hell right now. :p

Sorry if you find this story morbid. I hesitated posting about it at all, but needed an outlet. I found out today that she was pretty well known in the community, and two people I work with knew her.
