Hey about the TOS weapons are the ones you get for the devidian weeklies ie the phaser rifle and phaser II going the way of the breen officer?
No and you get more on replay. It's the staff that is the bonus.

Cool, I can live with not getting vampire powers, but I was planning on doing a TOS type character at some point.

The numbers say they shouldn't be as good as the more modern weapons, but for some reason my landing party and I are mowing down opponents of equal grade. Those weapons and practically everything in those latter Devidian missions were well done; can't wait for when Cryptic releases the TOS bridge. Didn't I also hear they were going to release a refit/upgrade for the TOS Constitution but are holding off on it?

Did not know about that, I guess I'll have to wait untill this is fixed before I start selling excess bridge officers on the exchange again.

How do you sell excess bridge officers? I have a bunch of them that I want to get rid of.

Either left click on the sell tab and look for the bridge officer you want to put up for sell or click U and click on the assignments tab and drag the officer you want to sell to the sell tab. You can also mail officers to other characters on your account using similar methods with the attachment tabs on the mail screen when it's accessed a major starbase.

Has anyone encountered an issue where items they post on the exchange just disappear? I was on the official forums, and apparently this has been happening where items expire, but instead of being mailed back to you, they just disappear and you lose them. From what I've read, the devs are aware of this issue, but until it's resolved, I've pulled all my stuff from the exchange.

Not saying it doesn't happen (things glitch all the time); but I just had 5 items 'returned' from the Exchange. One change they DID make - before, the items would return to your account, and ANY character could pick them up. Now, the items are returned to the actual character that put them up (and if you in th interim deleted that character, I don't know what would happen.)

First off, no companies release their subscription numbers - they're all based on speculation. But, at launch estimates had them at 1 million subscribers, which was down to 100k after 3 months.

The 1 million subs thing was also pronounced garbage by Cryptic employees, numerous times. They never had it and never claimed they had it.

BTW, anybody who thinks STO is going to go F2P should probably look at Atari's financials. Cryptic Studios represents 43% of the entire company's revenues.

Well they level with you and the pistols are always blue quality stun phasers.

Again, I really don't care what Cryptic people have to say about their sub numbers. It is not in their interests to release them and any time a company talks about their sub numbers it's usually a load of bull shit. I mean, do you really believe WoW has 12 million subscribers? I don't. It's creative fudging of numbers to portray themselves in a more positive light.

And while Cryptic may be 43% of Atari's revenue, how does that 43% break down? That could be 98% Champions and 2% Star Trek - these numbers mean nothing without OTHER more defining numbers. And what makes up the other 57%? As far as I know Atari isn't exactly rocking the video game world with its IPs so Cryptic making up 43% of that may not be so very impressive especially given that Cryptic has multiple properties that produce continual income.

So, your contention is that they turned the wildly successful game into F2P, and left the struggling one monthly. Riiiiiiiiiight....

Cryptic is keeping Atari's doors open. STO is keeping Cryptic's doors open. The people who *KNOW* the numbers say yours are crap. As sources you cite podcast speculation. I'm sorry, you saying "it's in their interest to lie" isn't proof of your claims, it's not even evidence of them. It's in your interest to lie too, but nobody's saying *YOU* are lying; we're just saying you're wrong.

Wildly successful? Dreaming much? I will grant it's first couple of months were successful but not wildly so.

It isn't in their interest to release their numbers and I do trust video game reporters estimates more than I do company releases (even if the releases say nothing). So tell me fanboy champion, what percentage of that 43% does STO comprise?

Well, that's also a pretty convenient reason to bow out of a question you can't answer.

Enjoy!

You know if you are going to accuse people of lying, it's good for to provide actual credible evidence to back up your accusation. Although your use of the word fanboy makes me suspect your just here to troll.

Well, in fairness, I did use the word "lie" inaccurately.

It's in the best interests of companies to provide only those statistics that work in their favor. To use WoW as an example again, there's no way they have 12 million subscribers. They're using different subscription models from overseas to pad that number out, or that statistic just means that they've had 12 million subscribers over the whole lifetime of the game, or some other "slippery" meaning to the numbers. The point being you should never accept the numbers or statistics given to you by a company that wants to keep making money off its customers and keep its shareholders confident.

The numbers I give are not fact either and I've never made claim that they are. I just tend to believe a neutral 3rd party with no interest in the game over the company that makes the game.

I'm actually not here to troll. I was just here to see if the game went free to play yet. The use of the term fanboy was unfortunate, but I think it applied to that person I was arguing with. We're all fanboys to an extent, but his argument was effectively the equivalent of plugging his ears and saying "I can't hear you" over and over again.

That said, after your arguments and the other chap who was supposed to send me the 10 day pass I resubbed just to see if there were any improvements (seeing as he never sent me the pass, I just figured I'd put my money where my mouth is). I started a new toon and can only report at this time that it's too early to say if it's much improved, but the character creation clearly has several more options (though that was always a high point of the game) and the overall look of several areas is improved.

...

It just boils down to the old proverb: "Don't trust any statistics that you didn't forge yourself."

It's also convenient that you can site NO verifiable source for your statements that STO subscriptions are falling and the game is dying; yet you have zero issues stating them like the are cold hard facts; even after anecdotal evidence to the contrary, which at least have some actual factual basis (ie that Cryptic IS making Atari money; and the only two games that Cryptic has produced for Atari are Champions Online and Star Trek Online; and even Cryptic has stated CO is going F2P due to not meeting target sub numbers while STO remains pay to play.)

Given all this - were STO bleeding subscriptions and dying as you claim, wouldn't it make more sense to have BOTH games convert to the F2P model at the same time given they both use the same MMO engine?

Yet, STO remains Pay to Play with NO plans announced to go F2P.

Sorry, at this point, I'd say claims of STO's demise are inaccurate.

I'm not even sure why I'm responding to more fanboyism when you clearly didn't even read what I've written. (yeah, I used the term again because that's what your argument is based in)

GO BACK 2 (TWO) POSTS AND SEE WHERE I SAID THAT THE NUMBERS I'M STATING AREN'T FACT BUT ARE BASED ON REPORTS FROM A NEUTRAL 3RD PARTY.

And your facts are a little off, chief. Cryptic is running 3 (4 depending on your POV) games. City of Heroes, City of Villains, Champions, and STO. Another fact is that in November Cryptic stated that they were considering going free to play with STO but they were still running numbers (as I previously posted).

And what does the game engine have to do with both of them going F2P? This makes so little sense it makes my ears bleed.

And as to your last point, I never ever said STO was headed to demise. Not once. Moreover, free to play is hardly the death of a game, it's only a different financial model for the game. A lot of you seem to equate F2P with failure when in all honesty, it's brought about much more success for several of the games that changed to that model.

Wow. You "correct" people and are nasty about it, with information that's over three years out of date. That would be when NCSoft bought Cryptic out of City of Heroes, formed most of the former Cryptic employees into Paragon Studios, and waved goodbye to the folks who (from their offices 1,500 miles and two time zones away from Paragon Studios) wrote and operate Champions Online and Star Trek Online.

Welcome to my ignore list.
