Worst TNG episodes ever

indolover

Fleet Captain
I think Devil's Due and Where Silence Has Lease are contenders. lol

Devil's Due is not that badly written, but it's too silly and goofy, and off the wall. Where Silence Has Lease is just plain weird! I don't really get it, the Enterprise discovers a hole in space, the "hole" experiments with the crew, reveals itself to be a sapient entity, and then wants to kill half the crew. :wtf:

Worse than Code of Honour? Nope.

Indeed. The likes of Justice and Shades of Gray might be bad, but Code of Honor is not just bad, it's also an offensive exercise in racial stereotyping. A travesty of an episode that is truly beyond redemption.

Loved Code Of Honour, loved Where Silence Has Lease! For me, the worst episode accolade must obviously be awarded to Sub Rosa, with Phantasms a close second.

^^ Weird, I didn't particularly mind either of those episodes, although Sub Rosa does appear to be a popular choice whenever this question comes up.

I really hated "Genesis". The idea of the crew reverting to primitive life forms was just as stupid as the Paris/Janeway fiasco from "Threshold".

Actually, I've always loved Devil's Due for just that reason.

Well it's no surprise, because Brannon Braga wrote both awful scripts. He also co-wrote the silly, boring "Sub Rosa".

His "Phantasm" story was silly, but still essentially entertaining.

And on the flipside he wrote the highly influencial, successful "Parallels" and co-wrote "All Good Things", the only genuinely good send off for any Trek series.

Probably helped that he had RDM holding his hand for that one. :techman:

Yes, but around the same time they churned out the semi-good but deeply flawed and ultimately underwhelming ST: Generations. ;)

And on VOY the majority of his more entertaining scripts were mainly with Bryan Fuller and Joe Menosky. And he was generally less piss-poor than Kenneth Biller.

But great TNG episodes like "Cause and Effect" and "Parallels" were all his.

I actually enjoyed Generations, however, for the purposes of this point, clearly RDM concentrated more on AGT, while he left Braga to get things started on the Generations script! ;)

I'm just being facetious, and playing to the popular notion that Braga was woeful. I actually enjoyed most of his work, whether it was with RDM, others or on his own. He was subject to bad episodes, but so is everyone else.

Rascals.

The kid playing picard is awful. Punch myself in the face awful.

And the bridge crew are a bunch of idiots.

A painful show to watch.

Wow. "Where Silence Has Lease" is a favorite, as is "Devil's Due."

I honestly don't like the Non-Trek-feeling TNG episodes like "Family," "The Inner Light," "Thine Own Self," etc and count those among my least favorites. Overall, the last three seasons were considerably weaker, IMO, than the first three (and first half of the fourth).

What was that last season one when the holodeck turned into a train and took the ship to "Verteron City"?

That gets my vote.

Emergence, yep that was a bit of a stinker I guess, but you did have the Skakespear bit at the beginning as a bit of a saving grace.

Forgot about this one. Totally agree.

Surprised that no one's mentioned Shades of Gray - a clip show FFS!

As far as clip shows go I actually like this one.

I'm going to add the 1st season PoS when Wesley and the other children get kidnapped to the list. So bad.

I always get a kick out of these threads. It is always interesting to see what some consider 'bad TNG'.

I agree with the episodes you like. "Where Silence Has Lease" was a pretty creepy story about shit you can run into in space, and it doesn't necessarily come with an explanation. "Devil's Due" was just campy fun. Picard worrying about his soul at the end was great.

"Family" is good for a watch if you see it right after "TBOBW", but on its own it's kind of lame, a slow paced drama. "The inner light" works great as a mindfuck story that ends somewhat well, but it's not really Sci-Fi, more like a psychological exploration of Picard. "Thine Own Self" was pretty decent too. Would have been better if Data remembered who he was before he left the planet.

Phantasms was great! I loved the surrealism, and Counselor Troi finally gets some payback for 7 years of smug arrogance :D

Hmm, there's a ton of episode I can't stand, I'll pick the top 3 that come to my head:

1. Shades of Grey - A bunch of 1st season clips, and Riker shouting "Data something's got me!!!!" for half the episode.

2. Angel One - The butch amazon women beat up men and seduce Riker.

3. Half a life - A story about some guy who is to be ritually murdered at 60 because it's his time.

There's other stinkers, but these 3 I refuse to watch again.
