X-MEN: FIRST CLASS (Casting, Rumors, Pics till release)

I swear this movie doesn't really exist! We have no true casting or photographic evidence! Even if I see a trailer I might think it just fan made. Details, people. Please!

I am looking forward to it... though I was sad to hear that Jackman would not get a short cameo in this one (would fit perfectly being set between the various segments of "Origins: Wolverine").
I like the idea of the 1960ies setting, and especially the idea of including politics into the story... just like INDY 4, I hope they will be able to catch the spirit of the 60ies.

I really hope they don't force a Wolverine cameo into First Class. I like Jackman and I like Wolverine, but they don't need to be in everything.

Actually it would make perfect sense... for example him and Creed (Liev Schreiber) being part of a unit of soldiers who free the concentration camp. Just a mere few seconds cameo... would round up the whole thing a little...

Fascinating.

It'll be VERY interesting to see how this particular movie turns out.

Speaking of Wolverine, I have also just looked up what movies Hugh Jackman might be sometime in the near future and it has been announced on IMdB that there will be another Wolverine related movie which I BELIEVE has no relation at all to the X-Men Origins movie that has come out. It's called 'The Wolverine.'

Where did the Jackman thing come from? Source? As far as I know Singer has said Wolverine will not be in this movie. "The Wolverine" is on fast track right now and Hugh has been training and working out for the last couple months. He has his Logan beard back already :) I seriously doubt there will be a Wolverine cameo in this movie.

I really could care less as well about a Wolverine cameo as well. A cast photo would really be nice! Why are they being so dang secretive about this? For the first film there was a detail a day.

They're hardly being secretive about it. As for "Cast" photos. Those are usually done for television shows not films. There will be character posters I'm sure eventually. Remember they just production about a month or so ago. Patience. I dunno what you're talking about with regards to the first film. First "X-Men" film? I remember reading or hearing nothing until I saw the first teaser trailer back then.

Welcome to the boards...and the internet it seems.
The Wolverine is fully on our radar. ;)

XD

Hello and Thank you for the warm welcome. I also apologize, I had not gone through the thread previously, therefore I did not know that you were aware of this fact.

My two cents about when this movie takes place: In the first film, they don't even mention a year -- I think they just say, "Present Day," and the movie came out in the early 21st century. I think viewers should be elastic in when it actually takes place. It would've been easier if they had used the phrase, "sometime in the near future," so then they could've said for this movie in the very beginning, "sometime in the past."

The only time we know for sure the actual time period in the X-Men films is when we see Magneto as a child in World War II. Also, in the Wolverine film, we know he was a child more than 150 years ago in the 184os, and we see Logan and Victor Creed in various times, from the Civil War up to Vietnam. So we know both Wolverine especially and Magneto have long lives.

I don't think it's so vitally important we know an actual time period. If you want to give it a pseudo-period piece feel, have the men wear hats and the women long skirts, for crying out loud.

actually, it was set in 'the not too distant future'*. far enough along that an HD TV in the bar in Canada looks rather beaten up though.

*the caption when Rogue's scene starts says 'Meridian Mississipi. The not too distant future.'

The Wolverine is going to be a great movie, since Darren Aronofsky is directing it! His latest films The Wrestler and Black Swan have been masterpieces!

Making The Wolverine a stand alone film will make it even more attractive to people who are not necessarily fans of the franchise!
And yes, it is defineatly a go... Jackman is working out and will put some 25 pounds of muscle on, and shooting is scheduled to start in March 2011, with a release date in summer 2012!

Ah, yes, I remember now. That kind of solves the continuity problem, as I mentioned. There's no need to make First Class a period piece, unless, as I said, you put in some retro costuming, like they did in the first couple of Tim Burton Batman films.

Yeah, I'm excited about the movie, too. I guess it'll take place before Logan meets the X-Men, in that 10-year period where he didn't know who he was. Or perhaps it'll take place after the death of Jean Grey and the events of X-Men 3. Either way, it sounds like a winner.

"The Wolverine" takes place after "X-Men Origins:Wolverine" but as has already been reported it won't be directly referencing that movie at all. It's a pretty safe bet to assume that it takes place before Logan meets Marie in that bar in Alberta.
