Winter 2011 premieres

Temis the Vorta

Fleet Admiral
Admiral
Pretty slim pickins... oh well, I need to read more anyway.

This list doesn't include the burn off of Caprica, on Skiffy 1/4, 6-11pm. I've heard tell that the episodes are pretty good overall although the first one is about useless Lacey and therefore lame. I'm sure I'll be cursing Skiffy that they cancelled one of the rare decent shows on TV, though the way the producers dicked around with the storyline, I have to give Skiffy a semi-pass on this one.

My list:

Tue., Jan. 4
V (ABC), 9 p.m.

It'll be lots better when it comes back, I'm sure of it! :) And if it isn't, no problem, it's sure to be cancelled soon anyway. I'm looking forward to Brett Harrison's character.

Sun., Jan. 9
The Cape (NBC), 9 p.m.

I have little hope this will be good or last long but I'll watch it for James Frain playing a supervillain. Maybe they should have just built a show around him.

Mon., Jan. 17
Being Human (Syfy), 9 p.m.

Sam Witwer and Mark Pelligrino as vampires are enough to pique my interest. And no, Skiffy isn't going to air the original no matter how much you cry, just rent it from Netflix. It's there, I checked.

Chuck (NBC), 8 p.m.

Being a completist, I'll keep watching till the bitter end, but there's not much drama left in either Chuck & Sarah's eternal romantic conundrums or Ma Bartowski's storyline.

Thur., Jan. 27
Archer (FX), 10 p.m.

Hilariously nasty show, the best one on this list. Hasn't shown signs of running out of steam yet...

Fri., April 1
Chaos (CBS), 8 p.m.

Not sure what to expect. CBS will keep it from having much comic bite, but I do like Freddy Rodriguez.

Big Love
and Camelot are DVD rentals for me.

I can't really envision how they can make vampires and werewolves seem anything but overexposed and tired at this point. But Witwer and Pelligrino have definite slash potential, so I might just stick around for that. :D

No more overexposed than superheroes, spies, or aliens, I suspect . . . .

And I've heard nothing but good things about the British version.

I'm also sick of superheroes and spies. Aliens as a category are too diverse to get sick of so quickly.

And I forgot one premiere:

Star Wars: The Clone Wars

Cartoon Network
Jan 7, 8:30pm

I'm just wondering when exactly the hell the final season of Law & Order: Criminal Intent will be shown.

I mean, Goren AND Eames are back!! How cool is THAT?!?!?

Not sure if anyone in here is interested but "Smallville" returns on Jan 28th. I'll check out "The Cape" but meh yeah. Looking forward to the return of "Star Wars:The Clone Wars".

I see also that Merlin is returning to syfy on 1/7 (for us American fans who haven't seen Season Three yet, I assume) and, alas, Vampire Diaries doesn't return until 1/27.

Tv really is circling the drain for me. It simply isn't very good anymore. I enjoy these days mainly watching older, better written series that don't consist of uninteresting characters, weak actors and recycled plots.

The only ones I'm sorta interested in are:

Gossip Girl(yeah sue me but it is a guilty pleasure that has been consistently entertaining which the same could not be said about 99% of other shows.

Chuck--I won't be heartbroken if it is canned this year--it has run its course for me.

The Vampire Diaries-- it has been fairly decent this season but it could be better.

Supernatural--I'm going to watch the rest of the season but this year has not been very good--it has become one of those shows I used to enjoy, it jumped the shark but I'll stick with it out of momentum i.e. The X-Files or Roseanne.

Fringe--very uneven show but the mythology surrounding the series is very engrossing and the only worthwhile thing about it. The characters and the non romance romance I could care less about.

I'm not interested in the rest especially V--I've read spoilers to see if it would be worth it to reinvest and the resounding answer for me was NO!

The Vampire Diaries will pick up alot of steam in the second half of the season. I have enjoyed the second season for the most part.

I've fallen really behind on Chuck since I started working Monday nights again. I need to play catch up before new episodes start.

While I agree Chuck has not been at its best this season, I am still enjoying it and will follow it when it returns.

The British Being Human is a good show, check it out if it's available. Merlin is pretty much Merlin, there's some really good episodes later in the series and the 4th has already been commissioned, though it has been reduced to 10 episodes.

Lights Out (FX) premieres January 11.

The Chicago Code (FOX) premieres February 7. Creator is Shawn Ryan, who also created The Shield, co-created The Unit and Terriers, and was the showrunner during season two of Lie to Me. Joining Ryan is Tim Minear, co-creator of Firefly, Wonderfalls, The Inside, and Drive, and who worked extensively on Angel and Terriers.

I'm very much looking forward to The Chicago Code, and very curious about Lights Out. I'm also looking forward to the new seasons of Southland, Justified, and Californication.
