Things that are out of place in movies

The Migs in Top Gun, bad enough they're actually F-5s but I do get that actual Migs weren't that easy to come by at the time, but then they gave them an even numbered designation when Migs are always odd (Mig 21, Mig 25 etc) Thats just sloppy.

Similarly the Russian airbase in The Living Daylights that's full of Western aircraft. Heck at least in Rambo 3 they tried to make a Puma look like a Hind. Like I say its understandable but I always find it jarring.

Similarly the Nazi helicopter in Where Eagles Dare.

^helicopters were used in limited amounts and roles in WW2...

as for repainted Western aircraft masquerading as ComBloc aircraft....

Iron Eagle features Israeli Mirages masquerading as MiGs which look nothing alike, Wings of the Apache (or 'Firebirds as it's also known) features the 'Scorpion' helicopter which is just Yet Another Hollywood Reuse of the Hughes 500, and Patriot Games has the SAS using UH-1 Hueys which tehy don't.

of course, Patriot Games is also brilliant for using a bridge in Kent (IIRC) during the transit of Sean Bean to the Isle of Wight from London and they're in different directions.

Mission: Impossible has the Channel Tunnel as one two-line tunnel, not two single-line tunnels...

Not a movie, but there was an episode of M*A*S*H in which Radar is shown reading an AVENGERS comic book--which, of course, wasn't even being published during the Korean War!

You beat me to it! That was the the first one that came to mind for me.

Then, of course, there's the immortal Rumble in the Bronx, which is set in New York, but was filmed in Vancouver, resulting in scenes in which the Cascade Mountains loom majestically within view of the Bronx!

It's not in the tone of other things mentioned here but for "out of place" I'm going to mention Kirk's "time travel dream" in The Voyage Home. One huge "WTF?!" moment.
I like that part, but the reeds with the aircraft sound overhead doesn't fit. It makes it sound like the bird of prey is just arriving over a marsh.

"You know what's amazing? How England looks nothing at all like Southern California."

The opening battle scene in "Courage Under Fire" always drives me crazy because those are the fakest M1s Abrams I have ever seen. Then there is the MLRS rocket system firing behind Denzel Washington when he is briefing his officers. It looks like it is spitting out little sparklers. A REAL MLRS shoots out large rockets that leave a huge dust cloud on the ground and have a real loud roar. There is no way Denzel would have been able to be that close to a real MLRS system without feeling the effects of the rocket launch.

Another scene that drives me crazy is the tank scene in "Red Dawn" The Wolverines and that Colonel are on the frontlines and two russian tanks roll up. They then get into a long range dual with what looks to be an M1 Abrams. Well during this whole scene the Abrams is shooting constantly at the russian tanks and not hitting them. This is ridiculous. The Abrams fire control system was pretty advanced, even back in the 80's and could have hit the commie tanks with the first shot or at least the second.

I don't think it counts as something "out of place," though, when one real building or location stands in for another one, as long as 99 percent of the audience doesn't know the difference. For example, Terminator 2 has a long, continuous chase sequence that was filmed in at least three different L.A. locations that are dozens of miles apart. If you don't live here, how would you know?
As opposed to the middle of the car chase in Bullitt, when the cars are headed through the Marina, towards the Golden Gate Bridge... and only shots later are deep inland, with no water in sight.
That chase jumps around all over the place, from start to finish.

I love in the first season of Battlestar Galactica how there is a shot of deserted Caprica City while Helo is wandering around, and there is an office tower with a ScotiaBank logo right at the top. I didn't realize the colonies had a branch!
At least, in this shot from the Star Trek TOS episode “Operation: Annihilate!,” the director or D.P. had the good sense to block the top of the white building from view. The location was the headquarters of TRW Corporation in Redondo Beach, and there was a huge red TRW logo at the top of the tower. (It was replaced by Northrup Grumman’s logotype when that company bought out TRW in 2007.)
And just before that shot, you catch a glimpse of this building, which isn't even at Space Park - it's 15 miles to the north, on the UCLA campus, where it's known as Schoenberg Hall.

In one episode of Stargate SG-1, Carter's boyfriend is trying to get her to skip work and he says "let's go to the zoo" and Carter's reply is "Colorado Springs doesn't have a zoo"

The problem is it does have a zoo, it's called the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, and it's on Cheyenne Mountain, the home of Stargate Command. She would even have to go past a whole bunch of signs on her drive in each day pointing out how to get to the zoo.

They also depict Colorado Springs as having an expansive downtown area, which in reality consists of only about 5 highrise office buildings.

I wasn't aware there were any really operational helicopters in WW", but even if there were they sure as heck weren't Bell 47s

The Sopranos title sequence is one big jumbled mess of criss crossing the state of New Jersey. Starting out from the Lincoln Tunnel going to Route 3 west, then on the New Jersey Turnpike south and then NJ Turnpike north, then on Pulaski Skyway heading west away from Holland Tunnel. Then on Route 1&9, NJ Turnpike west, then Route 7, then Route 21, back to Route 7, back to Route 21, back to Route 1&9 and back to Route 7 past Pizzaland and then finally on to his house.

As someone who lived in Northern NJ all my life, I watched it a lot to see the places they filmed at. I can tell you that when I was younger, I spent some serious time at the strip club Bada Bing on Route 17 or as we know it as Satin Dolls.

The movies Ten Things I Hate About You and Three Fugitives both feature characters being in Tacoma, Washington until they go around a corner or over a hill to arrive suddenly in Seattle (thirty miles or so north).

There was an episode of Chris Carter's series Harsh Realm where a convoy was ambushed in what captions referred to as "in the mountains outside Cincinnati, Ohio." Having lived within 50 miles of the city for most of my life I can't help but think :wtf: every time I see it.

Any show thats filmed in Vancouver you will quite often get the BC plates in there, or BC transit buses , when the show is supposed to take place in a US city.
If I had more time I could thin of a few more.

The intro to the Bob Newhart Show depicts Bob Hartley leaving the office and going home; but the direction that he walks and the train that he gets on takes him about 80 blocks out of the way. Newhart thought it was funny and even mentioned it in his autobiography.

Then there's the same green VW Beetle they keep passing over and over. :)
