Someone has probably posted a subject like this around this time every year. I haven't seen the questions posted yet this year, so here it goes. If this is the fifth time you've seen this in five years, call it a tradition. My favorites: I have two. 1) Vince Guaraldi's "Linus and Lucy" from A Charlie Brown Christmas. 1A) "Sleigh Ride" by Leroy Anderson, played by the Boston Pops. Not liked at all: "The Little Drummer Boy." Doesn't matter the arrangement. The song is a real buzz-kill to me for some reason.
Sorry, one of my favorites is "The Little Drummer Boy" with Bing Crosby and David Bowie [yt]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DiXjbI3kRus[/yt] Another good one is "Mary's Boy Child" sung by Harry Belafonte [yt]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UZ4FK1uXm_U[/yt] "If Every Day Was Like Christmas"- Elvis Presley [yt]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1pRNMeIAqKk[/yt]
I can't stand Paul McArtney's Christmas song. Not sure what it's called, something like "A Wonderful Christmas Time".
One of the worst songs of all time, Christmas or no. I can't believe it's still played on the radio regularly 30 years later - I don't know anybody who likes it. I tend to like most other Christmas music, just depends on the arrangement. Pop divas who oversing everything can ruin it for me (Mariah Carey's 18 different Christmas albums come to mind).
My all time favorite is Nat King Coles O' Holy Night http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T4uP32mnAjY My least favorite is Dominick the Italian Christmas Donkey. I hate that song with a passion, wish it would just go away. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nQrdxtWgHbE
There are too many not-liked to list! So I'll just give you a favourite [yt]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DIIWAu7N6lg[/yt]
My two favorites: "Tu Scendi Dalle Stelle", usually called "O Bambino" in the US. When I was a kid, we always sang it Christmas Eve at the family party, w/ one of us playing the piano. Corny, but true. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=THoF5snnSvE&feature=related And "O Holy Night", of course.
I dislike most pop Christmas music. The worst offenders are Santa Baby, which I find sleazy, and Jingle Bell Rock which is merely annoying. As far as songs I do like: O Holy Night is one of my favorites. I also like Mary's Boy Child and Joy to the World.
Favorite: Don't really have one , with the exception of Adam Sandler's 'The Hanukkah Song'. That song cracks me up every time I hear it . Not Liked: 'A Wonderful Christmastime' by Paul Mccartney. That song really gets on my nerves. -_-
I realize "The Little Drummer Boy" is a classic. My wife likes it. It was my mother-in-law's favorite. So, I know it's weird, but the song just darkens my mood. How about this version? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LC1qW45geDk
I like most Christmas music. Here are some of my favorites: Silent Night Mary's Boy Child What Child is This? Baby, It's Cold Outside Santa, Baby Do You Hear What I Hear? Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer Welcome, Christmas Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas I'll Be Home for Christmas Jingle Bell Rock Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree We Need a Little Christmas White Christmas
I have to turn off the radio or leave the room when Santa Claus Is Coming to Town by the Jackson 5 comes on. I'm not fond of the Paul McCartney one, either, but can live with it. Currently I'm loving Annie Lennox's and Loreena McKennitt's Christmas albums, especially LM's version of God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen. I've been a lapsed Catholic for years but still prefer religious Christmas songs.
I LOVE Christmas music, which is odd, considering that I'm an atheist. But here are some that I can't get enough of: Christmas Eve--Sarajevo by Trans Siberian Orchestra [yt]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MHioIlbnS_A[/yt] Winter Wonderland by The Eurythmics [yt]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8hFfU0ldxKY[/yt] White Christmas by Bing Crosby Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas by James Taylor I Saw Three Ships by Sting The Christmas Song by Nat King Cole As to Christmas Songs I hope to NEVER hear again, as long as live: Alvin and the Chipmunks "Please Christmas, Don't Be Late." Oh, dear GOD, make this horror disappear. They could use it to torture prisoners with. *shudder* Whitney Houston's "Do You Hear What I Hear?" No, I don't, because your bellowing has f***ing deafened me. and the Barking Dogs Jingle Bells. That's just all kinds of white-trash-holiday WRONG. Stop it. Stop it now.
I use to LOVE Christmas music. I think i bought every cd from every artist out there (exaggeration used for effect). Now? I hate it. I can't stand it! Any Christmas music!! By anyone!!! Bah humbug!!!
My favorite Christmas songs are "Little Drummer Boy," for the message, and "Hark! The Herald Angels Sing," for the music. I also like "The Hanukkah Song" and "Christmas Wrapping." Actually, I pretty much like all Christmas music, including the Paul McCartney son.
