'Transformers 3' Casting, Rumors, Pics till release

I'm merely saying that, because this is Transformers, we shouldn't be taking this as seriously as some folk seem to want to take it. It's escapism fantasy...

When did "escapist fantasy" become code for shoddy writing, editing, and directing? You're confusing the genre of the film with the quality (or lack thereof) of the filmmaking. There's no reason to excuse bad filmmaking just because the film has a fantasy setting. The LotR films were very well made, and they're every bit as escapist as Transformers.

As I and others have said, the difference between TF1 and TF2 was night and day. This is not to say that TF1 was any kind of masterpiece, but it was at least an entertaining (IMO), professionally made and coherently put-together film. Revenge of the Fallen on the other hand was a clusterfuck of epic proportions.

I'm perfectly willing to accept the premise of giant alien robots, even ones with silly metal beards. I can even accept historical and scientific inaccuracies done in the service of better storytelling. It's just that that's not what Bay seemed to be doing in TF2. Many of his inaccuracies made absolutely no improvement to the quality of the film, and could have worked just as well or better if done correctly. It comes off as laziness and apathy more than anything else.

Already seeing that same laziness in this new trailer, when coupled with the huge decline in quality from TF1 to Revenge of the Fallen, doesn't give me much confidence that this new film will be any good.

Not really; the first one was pretty shitty, too. It just mostly managed run-of-the-mill shitty, rather than balls-to-the-wall shitty (which actually makes the second film a little more entertaining, as far as I'm concerned), but all the same elements were there. There's difference between them, yeah, but I don't see this huge quality gap that everyone else talks about.

Like I said, I'm not arguing that TF1 was high quality filmmaking or anything, but I disagree with you completely that the difference in quality of the production itself wasn't very apparent, and it seems others share that view.

Most movies have little continuity mistakes and plot holes that are easily forgiven, but Revenge of the Fallen had massive gaping plot holes and mistakes that are just so lazy and easily fixable.

Revenge of the Fallen was just typical unrestrained, unchecked Michael Bay. Look at the massive difference between Bad Boys and Bad Boys II. Same with the Transformers sequel.

I liked both...but Bad Boys was far better than II...mainly because of Téa Leoni. :adore:

Maybe it's Galvatron and theyre just making him a separate entity from Megatron. Or Cyclonus and the Sweeps. I thought Shockwave was the main villain.

^ Yeah that other one should be closed.

Pretty sure it's Sentinel Prime...they had their chance to do Galvatron.

Maybe...I thought it could have been Alpha Trion until it was pointed out it looked like The Burger King...so not cool enough looking to be Alpha Trion.

As I pointed out before Sam mentioned Sentinel Prime in his rant about the Dynasty of Primes in "TF2". It could be Alpha Trion...but I wouldn't be shocked if it was Sentinel Prime either. If so though it kind of makes Optimus's call for other Autobots in the first movie seem weird. If they came from the crashed Ark on the moon couldn't have they just gone back and sent that signal using human technology to repair the ship's damaged communications systems?

So if Unicron shows up, which extremely famous actor who doesn't know jackshit about Transformers should do his voice this time? :D

Somebody as famous today as Orson Welles once was...

I'm not asking for it nor do I expect there to be any kind of continuity kept. My point was that I was simply pointing out that Sam did mention SP in the last movie...

I don't see Clint Eastwood taking on a voice job...besides isn't he retired now as far as his acting career is concerned? I personally do not see Unicron making an appearance in this film. Orci and Kurtzman talked about wanting to tackle him but of course they never got to write their take on him.
