'Transformers 3' Casting, Rumors, Pics till release

Great great trailer but i don't expect the movie to live up to it.
Will throw a few Yen on Alpha Trion.

There's an interview I read where Michael Bay talks about shooting in 3D. The best thing about it? He mentions how you need to stay on a shot for at least a few seconds to get good 3D and that he had to change his shooting style to accommodate it. So hopefully this means no constant shaky and moving cam with quick cuts for two straight hours.

I agree 100%. I hope you are right. It actually looks good when the camera moves a little lower and you can actually see everything instead of a big blur...

Ugh... Facepalm... Sure, it looks slick enough, but I don't know if they could pull off more historical inaccuracies if they tried. Apollo 11 - on the far side of the moon? :D

To misquote another Bay film: Stupid just got real!

Out of curiosity - Is this being shot in 3D, or converted in post? I'm guessing the latter, but I'd love to be wrong.

I think we're seeing two ships with a bit of editing. The ark and nemesis are on the moon

The bot at the end has a symbol of the Dynasty of Primes.

See ... if I were to take all of this seriously, I'd ask why a robot would have a metallic beard (and humanoid face). But it's Transformers, so who really cares?

I've been against seeing this film then on the fence. I'm still on the fence but that was a really good trailer. So the Apollo 11 astronauts discover Nemesis crash landed on the dark side of the moon...

I'm pretty sure the Nemesis is on Mars.

I didn't think of the Ark being on the moon. Also yeah it makes sense that is Sentinel Prime since he was mentioned in Sam's rant from the second movie.

Unicron's not in the movie according to O&K.

Nemesis was on Titan.

or a gas giant's moon, any how.

clearly you a) missed the bearded robots from generation 1, like Wreck Gar, the Sharkticons and others and b) missed Jetfire with his beard, walking cane and aged appearance in ROTF.

that would really suck if it was unicron, but then agian, most of the film franchise has sucked, so it's probaly gonna suck...

wait, the title alone tells us it's going to suck....
'Dark of the Moon' like that's gonna not suck.

the should have just went with Transformers 3

Er ... no, I didn't miss them at all. Quite the opposite. I'm merely saying that, because this is Transformers, we shouldn't be taking this as seriously as some folk seem to want to take it. It's escapism fantasy ... by Michael frickin' Bay no less. Anyone who went into TF2 expecting something that wasn't over-the-top ridiculous was deluding themselves ... especially if they had been paying attention at all during TF1. So dissecting the TF3 trailer based on such trivialities as "historical accuracies" -- when you've got bearded alien robots that look humanoid in a Michael Bay film -- makes no sense to me.

It does seem as if they are tying the movie together in terms of exploration.
Mars rover
Arctic expiditon
Moon landing
and how all these moments had an encounter that moved man farther along the technological curve.

I'm not one to get alll caught up in the accuracy of the film. I just want a better less silly, less vulgar movie. A lot of what happened in TF2 was done just for the sake of being silly or vulgar because one or two acts in TF1 were appreciated. TF2 suffered the "they liked that then give 'em twice as much" syndrome.

It does look like an attempt at Alpha Trion to me.
I'm still on the fence. The trailer for TF2 looked decent but then I saw the movie. They showed 98% of that sorry excuse for Devestator in the trailers.

In terms of over-the-top ridiculousness, TF2 makes TF1 look like a still life.

Exactly. I hate when people try to pretend like there's no difference in quality between the two. The tones might be the same, but the story in the first movie is MUCH cleaner and MUCH more focused (hence why so many critics recommended the movie). You could clearly see Spielberg's influence in the way Bay told his story.

The second movie has none of that self-control, and becomes a huge, chaotic mess after about 20 minutes.

The first TF might be a guilty pleasure, but at least it was a well made guilty pleasure.

There is a significant difference in both tone, execution of the plot, and even acting in some cases. I think it was a big mistake to have the Fallen be the main villain in the second film, there was no real reason to have him. The Decepitcons under Soundwave could easily have resurrected Megatron from the sea (like they did in the movie proper) and the plot could have been about a Decepticon civil war between Starscream and Megatron. In fact that is what Orci and Kurtzman wrote in their first treatment. Starscream is able to find recruits in space and declares himself the new Decepticon leader (in a homage to Transformers:The Movie no less) while Megatron uses the loyal 'Cons back on Earth to fight for his leadership back. The film treatment essentially was split into two halves.

I think for me the tone of the second film was simply over the top...and the example of the Autobot twins exemplifies my thoughts about this. They were so painful to watch with their bumbling and near racist overtones that they made me cringe every time they were on the screen. They brought absolutely nothing to the plot and were bad comedic relief. I also hated what they did to Sam's parents, especially Judy turning her into a pot mad raving lunatic on campus just to embarrass Sam. That was pathetic.
