I don't get why Eli's getting criticized...are you people telling me in a similar situation you'd be perfectly happy? "Oh well, I only knew her for a little while. I'll get over it." That's cold. Really cold. I'm sure in a few episodes he'll be fine, though.

Eli was awesome in the first few minutes.
"You have put false information in the database before..."
SCOTTISH DEATH GLARE
"I'm just sayin'..."
And I like angry Eli a lot more than mopy emo Eli. He actually seemed to be channeling Rush with his "Are you in the navigation system? I told you to stay out!"

Brody and Volker are awesome. "He probably knew it would torture you." I'm seeing something in the way Volker's acting about Park, and the same with Greer...I wonder if anything's going to come of that. Seemed there was a bit of a moment between Young and TJ too.

Greer's awesome. "Is it something we can barbecue?"

If this was an SG-1 episode about someone learning revenge doesn't make you feel better, at the end the central character wouldn't have killed the bad guy. Being on SGU, Rush has to learn it the hard way. That was intense, no wisecracking or threats, just angst and death. Don't mess with Rush.

Young and Scott actually seem semi useful in this episode, and the whole trying to work together thing is going to be a lot better than the lame trying to hate each other just because we can thing ever was.

I wonder if Varro will ever do anything useful? Young doesn't seem to want to let him.

Eli did nothing wrong, he had feelings for the girl and anyway that aside the death of someone you know is going to upset you. Angry Eli rocks and I hope in the future Eli/Rush tension snaps and our boy pounds Rush for being the twat (good twat in terms of making a character watchable).

I was quite amused by that too. Seems he has a new figure to unconsciously model himself after, since Young is a useless drunk most days.

You know, I remember when Robert Knepper was first cast, it was said that he was going to be a rival for Rush, and every bit his equal. Indeed, before the season premiered nearly every interview with anyone involved with the show said that Knepper and Carlyle had some powerful stuff together this season and that watching those two perform was truly amazing. And yet, after eight episodes the only interaction the two of them have is some radio taunting, and then after being trampled by CG beasts, Knepper states he has important info before Rush shoots him.

What. The. Fuck? Is that the amazing performance the two of them deliver? Is this the extent of their powerful scenes? In what way is Knepper Rush's rival or equal? Was there by any chance and entire subplot running through the season which was deleted (thereby making yet another BSG parallel for this show)? Damn, having Knepper on the show was huge wasted potential.

How the hell do you spell Knepper's character's name anyway? Simian? Simeon? Cinnamon? Whatever the hell his character is named, why the hell was he kept on Destiny, anyway? I thought the logic was the Lucian Alliance members that were kept were the ones who were non-hostile and could contribute to life on the ship? Cinnamon was just trouble from day 01, hostile even towards his fellow Lucian Alliance comrades and someone from Earth must have realized before now that the intel he was providing was false.

For that matter why didn't anyone on Earth use the stones to check in with Destiny after Ginn and Perry were killed? So someone connected with the stones just myteriously drops dead, and the top brass from Homeworld Command just decide to wait for someone from Destiny to show up and explain things? I know O'Neill is more laid back than your typical general, but I'm pretty sure even he would interpret this as a huge red flag. I suppose maybe no one was sent because the IOA were arguing over how to deal with this.

And how is the Lucian Alliance launching an attack on Earth even a threat? The Lucian Alliance fly around in Goa'uld Ha'Taks. Even if they get past the fleet of BC-304s, the dones at Antarctica and Atlantis will tear them apart.

And since when were there plasticuffs on Destiny? I guess there is no reason why there couldn't be any, since every military officer could easily carry dozens of them at any given time. But one has to wonder why they didn't use them on Young when he stone-swapped with a Sombreroid as opposed to strapping him with belts. Maybe they didn't have any at the time and that was something the Lucian Alliance brought with them?

I guess as far as SGU episodes go, this one was okay, if a bit average.

Maybe there was no one on the Destiny side waiting to swap?

As discussed up thread, the LA would most likely use a terrorist type attack sneaking big bombs in using cloaked ships and planting them in large cities.

Now for an interesting question. Will Rush still be seeing his hallucinatory support team?

Im sure the attack would be more like a naquada bomb inside a cloaked cargo ship instead a full scale orbital attack, and wasn't the drone chair destroyed in the last episode of Atlantis?

At this point, I wouldn't be confident in those events happening. Given the dearth of Atlantis references, I suspect the producers are trying to quietly retcon a lot of stuff in SGA. And frankly, the finale is one of those things that should be retconned.

Anyway, they could potentially control the Antarctic drones via the Atlantis chair or have built a new chair/control interface using knowledge from the Asgard core and Atlantis' database.

Well, yes, but since Atlantis has its own chair, I see no reason why that couldn't work for Antarctica. And even if it for some reason couldn't I'm sure Carter, McKay, Zelenka, and Dr Lee could figure out a way to launch the drones without the chair by now.

And as for the plan of getting a cloaked cargo ship to drop off a naquadah bomb, since such a plan was already thwarted is SG-1, I'm sure it could easily be thwarted again.

I just don't see how the Lucian Alliance can hope to accomplish any real damage to Earth itself. And really, the potential attack on Earth is a storyline too far for SGU. they should be focsing on developing the story threads they have going on on Destiny isntead. What's happening on the other side of the universe has no real impact on Destiny.

Unfortunately, spoilers indicate the second half of the season is going to have an arc taking place in the Milky Way, involving Jonas Quinn's homeworld of all things.

Robert Cooper sat in as Ajay's co-host on InnerSPACE and he talked a bit about this episode. He said that it came about because they wanted to do a western. He also talked about Julia Benson being right there in a real explosion and that they didn't know how big it would be or that the smoke would engulf her.

As for Simeon being on Destiny, why was he still there? Was there some explanation as to why he wasn't sent away to a planet like the rest?

I had to go double check the "Aftermath" transcript to refresh my memory on that. Simeon was apparently on the short list of Lucian Alliance personnel who might have useful information that Telford and Wray worked out with Homeworld Command.

TELFORD: I have a shortlist. (He takes a piece of paper from his jacket pocket.) Based on intel provided by both myself and Camille Wray, you're being ordered to keep a select number of Lucian Alliance on board who may prove valuable.

I agree that Knepper was totally wasted. If there was any good material that built him up it was obviously left on the cutting room floor.

He was also giving information to the Tau'ri, though it wasn't accurate (unlike everyone else, who actually seemed to understand that their days were owned and tallied by the crew, and that their only choice was to play ball or to be stampeded by alien dinosaurs and then shot in the face).
