Time for a Cybermen redesign?

I said there's no reason to think it wasn't.

Of course there is. Because it wasn't.

This is what's called "circular logic."

Bottom line: Call it Mondasian if you like. Call it Cybusian if you like. The evidence is ambiguous enough to encompass both possibilities, and, ultimately, it doesn't actually matter.

The evidence is ambiguous enough to encompass both possibilities

So, then, we have to assume the previous appearance by the Cybusmen were, contradictory to Doctor Who, the Mondasians? That makes no sense, Sci. That's like me saying "Believe what you like, but that was Christopher Eccleston in Blink, not David Tennant".

and, ultimately, it doesn't actually matter.
Well, sure, that much we agree on. But, I have to kill boredom somehow... :techman:

^Uh-oh...a TOS reference. :alienblush:

Uhhhhhh......engage?

WAIT! Is that the one with Frank Gorshin painted up? I get what you're saying now.

AND SCI IS WHITE ON THE LEFT SIDE! Kill him!!

 :techman:

find a way to explain about the process of cyberconversions that's not a brain transplant.

I'm pretty sure they did they when they had the Cyberman head opening up and dropping a skull out before trying to attach itself to Amy's head in the Pandorica Opens.

:guffaw:

Your war ended thousands of years ago, The, no one even knows what a Cyberman is anymore, least of all can tell the difference between a Cybus version and a Mondasian one!

Oooh look out, the Borg! :borg:

Cybermen continuity in general is kind of screwed up anyways, when you think about it. Not only do the designs seem out-of-order in the chronology (Although this is a problem with the Daleks as well), there's a lot of other problems with the story dating. Pretty much every monster who appeared more than once has some kind of chronology issue going on!

Stupid question:

Wouldn't the fact that the Cybermen in "The Pandorica Opens" came in ships (which the Cybusmen to my knowledge do not posess) and the fact, that they used a classic Cybermen catchphrase and fistchlenching indicate, that they were meant to be classic ones?

Oh, one other thing...

Completely disagreed. Nowhere in that episode, or in Doctor Who at all, does it say anything about the Cybusmen that appeared being Mondasians. If it's not on the screen, it doesn't exist...

Hm.

So, in ROTC/AOS "We're in a parallel world though there are Cybermen in our universe." OK, that's in there, they're Pete's World Cybermen.

AOG/DD "They came through the void cracks between this world and Pete's World." OK, they're Pete's World Cybes.

TND "They're from a parallel world, got chucked into the void, then managed to escape from it with Dalek technology." OK, they're more of the Pete's World Cybes.

TPO " " What's that? No mention of being from any void or closed-off parallel universe? Damn- their Cybus nature is not in the episode, so it doesn't exist... Quite apart from them coming in the same ships as the Cybes from The Invasion, which the Pete's World Cybes never had...

I suspect The's position is actually more akin to "I don't care if it's painted green and the producer says it's half man and half plant, that's an Axon, and them's the facts!" :techman:

When did they point to a ship that looked like a ship from the 1960's in The Pandorica Opens and say "Hey that's a Mondasian ship"? Or is that just fanwank on your part, Lonemagpie? Why did the "Mondasians" in PO look like Cybusmen? Why did they walk, talk, and act like Cybusmen? Why did they mention the Pandorica threatening "ALL" universes? Why would the Mondasians care about other universes?

My evidence is all over the screen. Yours is pure conjecture. I simply cannot understand the mindset of some of you. Facts are facts, and since none of you can prove anything to contrary, the facts point to the same answer every single time: They were Cybusmen.

Sorry. I know you don't want to believe otherwise.

I suspect The's position is actually more akin to "I don't care if it's painted green and the producer says it's half man and half plant, that's an Axon, and them's the facts!" :techman:

When you're proven incorrect, all you can do is make a childish, passive-aggressive insult? I'm right here, man. Talk directly to me, unless I intimidate you...

Not trying to be actually insulting (If I wanted to insult anyone, they'd *know* they were being insulted, and so would everybody else) - it was just a comparison about a similar situation (reuse of an existing costume) that I'd meant to make earlier....

As for facts...

"You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means..."

Oh okay. Misunderstood. Cool. :techman:

All ten guys on the Internet?

You got it! You five got your prancing metal tits for five RTD years.

Wow. "Five RTD years?" Those must have been an awfully long six entire episodes the RTD Cybermen appeared in! ;)

Aaaaaaand... You know which version of the Cybermen is more popular, how?

I have yet to see this verified, but TV Tropes claims that Moffat has said they were Mondasian Cybermen, not Cybus Cybermen.

I've heard the same rumor. Yet, in the end, they had Cybusmen in the show. So, I guess he might have wanted the Mondasians, but just didn't have the budget. Maybe next season?

So if Moffat says they were Mondasian even if they looked Cybusian, his word doesn't count?

When a Mondasian Cybermen and a Cybus Cybermen love each other very much they do a special hug and ....

Remeber there is no evidence of the Doctor existing in pete's world. So maybe the cybern invasion in the 1980's happened but the wheelchair dude was the one who defeated them, ended up paralyzed inthe fight and reverse engineeered that univeres's mondasian cybermen, since he had to do a LOT of engineeering he said HE created them.

I didn't mind the Cybus style Cybermen having starships, it was less cheesy than them having a Godzilla sized Cyberman trampling across London.
