I would never, never buy a kid Monopoly.![]()
I have troubles understand that, too. Sounds like the moral panic against D&D during the 80s.But anyway, back to my question. I am genuinely curious. People speak of this dark mentality associated with wanting to do bad things with ouija boards and I'm just not sure what exactly the danger is.
I'd be careful. I don't really buy into the stories, but it's one of those things where there's just no point in taking the chance there's something to it, however remote.
This pretty much sums up what I was going to say. Whether or not they are capable of literally summoning things, I am still not a fan of some of the ideas and mindsets that have the potential to come with it.
You either believe it or you don't. Sounds like people believe it but are ashamed to admit it.Mom didn’t want it in the house--she that she didn’t know if there was anything supernatural about it, but one didn’t invite trouble.

That you will become a witch, obsessed with dark magic? Wanting to hang out with dark spirits? I don't really get what you guys are referring to.

I find these comments quite weird, too:

People think that inanimate objects can do weird shit all the time. Religious relics. Holy books. Haunted houses. Lucky charms. I don't see anything different about Ouija boards compared to that.Nope. The mindset is the idea that the board really can do these things when it's nothing but an inanimate object with absolutely no "powers" whatsoever. I'm not referring to imagination, I'm referring to the fact that there are kids who do become obsessed with these things because of the lore that surrounds them, thanks to a panicky and uninformed culture, particularly in the United States. That is the mindset to which I am referring.

I once crossed Ouija and Monopoly. I accidentally sold Chicago to the Devil.
I asked a prominent Senator named Vreenak once, you know what he said about ouija boards?
