As for what I was saying regarding it more likely being mainly new Who fans who'd vote against there being a coherent explanation, I think to not do so and just glibly dismiss the issue is completely unnecessary considering the story possibilities, and would be disrespectful to the history of the show. But if you're only really into new Who, that explains why you wouldn't care. Still, as there is potential for it being done really well in an interesting way, why would you not want that?
