I've seen advertised a new release of Star Trek XI on Blu Ray for Nov 16, 2010. Anybody know if this is true?

Good point. I've edited my post but...it's been quoted. Twice.

It's just a re-release. This happens all the time. The difference this time might be that it no longer comes with a slipcover and the cover art will now be what was on the slipcover (instead of the Kirk/Spock faces).

Greg Cox's books would have been much better. I do not understand why they would put his on hold and go forward with these.

It's because Greg's book (and the other three) were set after STXI, and it's since been decided that only JJ's people can tell "new" nuTrek stories. The tie-ins have to make do with prequels or concurrent stories, like the Countdown and Nero comics, and the Academy books.

Since those four books are all written and paid for, it's possible they'll be modified a little to fit between movies and released at some point - but don't hold your breath.

I'm hoping for a Kelvin novel.
