BSG: Blood and Chrome isn't a pilot. At most after they webcast they'll re-edit into a feature length format and air it on a Saturday.

I stand corrected. If anythin, I think the film (and possible series) would in fact be closer in tone to the original 1978BSG; which (imo) is a good thing. The CGI folks showed what they could do with the origimnal 1978BSG era Cylon and Cylon fighter designs, so who knows, this might get more 1978BSG fans to give it a chance, which can only help the ratings.

Let's see, Scifi canceled Atlantis partly because they wanted to clear the ways for SGU. Sounds like Syfy wants to quickly clear caprica out for a potentialy more excited show with B&C.

The designs in B&C may be more similar to BSG78 than BSG-RDM, but I highly doubt a series with those producers (Eick, Taylor, Thompson, and Weddle) is going to take the backwards steps to BSG78's tone. No, they'll definitely stick with the BSG-RDM tone, as well they should.

It'll be a lot closer in tone to BATTLESTAR GALACTICA than CAPRICA was, at any rate. And it might have enough 'spolsions to bring in a more casual audience. We'll see.

Would be nice if they'd finally put it out of its misery.
Maybe they'll bridge the gap with something that features better writing than SGU (a sitcom about a crazy cat lady in space or something like that).

Well, they got the Fiction part of that right. Still personally refuse to call it SyFy...

Anyway, I'm sad to hear caprica got cancelled. And will be sad to see SGU go. I actually enjoyed them both. Sure, they weren't super great shows, but I don't think they were all bad.

I think that possibility is only contingent of SGU making a profit through ratings.
With a package like this terms have to be met to govern and validate future expenditures. They just can't dump money into SGU regardless of it's ratings.

That's the reason why they are where they are now.

If the bankruptcy plan gets approved; it just means the debt holders effectively bought MGM for the price of the existing debt; and they will 'hold the reigns'. I know the folks who worked out the deal have said what they are planning, and would like to see happen; BUT, that may change once the new executives take control, and start running the studio.

So, I guess we'll know for certain in 30 to 60 days; but I think aside from ad revenue on SyFy; the deciding factor for SG:U will be DVD sales, and any possible future syndication deals they can make for it (if any). If DVD sales are good; and they have intersted stations/markets for weekend syndication; SyFy ratings won't matter that much; but again, until the plan is approved by the courts; and the re-organized board of directors is in place, nothing is certain.

Milk the DVD's sales sure...get what you can get but it's time to gracefully end this debacle and admit you were wrong and move on.

Me too, I think the Stargate connection, especially the SG-1 movies, is optimistic grasping.

That's how I read it.
The money is going to be for new Shows and films not stargate.
I think they have sold a lot of SG1 and SGA stuff off, so I think stargate is dead.

That will be a little coin from the Foriegn markets. They always seem thristy for American Science Fiction or movies in general...I've always wonder...why don't France Germany have their own Movie houses...to the effect that we here about their TV programs and Movies. Why is English always trancends down to other lanuages...or is that the English are too aloof to notice everyone else. (Not including the Japanese)

Advertisements from first run airings on Syfy is where the majority of the money comes from. There's just no justification for keeping a show on the air for the odds that someone in Sudan might watch someday.
