Well thats good news! Guess there are alot of zombie lovers out there. Hopefully most people will want to stick with it and didn't just watch it because they wanted to see something "scary" for Halloween.

Hopefully soon. I had read rumors that they had already picked it uo for a season 2, but AMC says they haven't. I also read in the local paper that there are only 6 episodes for this "season" which only makes me wish for a second season even more. I want more zombieeeees!

the thing I noticed is that this wasnt scary, just really depressing. Ive seen very few zombie films(almost none really) so i dont know how common it is, but I was surprised at how much pity some of the zombies evoked. I hope they have more scenes like that, like the legless zombie girl crawling on the ground. I like that a single zombie usually isnt as dangerous, so it can be observed, I hope they work with that more as well.

also as an animal lover I cringed when the horse went down. :(

One thing I have always wondered about zombies, though: why don't they ever attack each other?

I loved it with the sole exception of the clear love triangle crap there going to play with later. I would love a show like this to deal with more serious matters personally.

The ratings were indeed good as reported earlier...

5.3 million viewers for the original Telecast but it gets better with same night repeats that cable companies do look at...

AMC ORIGINAL SERIES GARNERS HIGHEST 18-49 DELIVERY

FOR ANY CABLE SERIES PREMIERE FOR 2010

    HIGHEST PREMIERE IN AMC’S

AMC will be happy with numbers a lot lower than that so hopefully that means the show has a good life in it.

And the critics LOVED it :techman:

He notices the hatch as he's looking up, preparing to shoot himself, then immediately (Rick was damned quick!) moves up into the tank. It was a little jarring just how quickly he responded to its presence once he saw it, but I guess the rush of adrenaline from being surrounded by a horde of zombies would do that to you.

Whomever you buy them for ;), I think it's definitely a worthy investment. There are a few different collection options. First is the trade paperback collections, which contain 6 issues each (13 volumes so far); second is the hardcover collections, with 12 issues each (6 volumes so far, plus one dedicated to the covers of each issue); third is a hardcover omnibus edition, with 24 issues each (3 volumes so far); last is a compendium edition, with 48 issues. The first three options all currently contain up to issue #72. Issue #79 will be released November 24. I can even recommend a website, InstockTrades.com, where hardcover book one is $21.69 compared to Amazon's $27.99 (disclosure: I know people who work at their physical location).

Yeah, 6 episodes this season. Frank Darabont has apparently claimed that AMC renewed the show with filming of season 2 to start in February but AMC has denied that. Producer Gale Ann Hurd also apparently stated that each season after season one would be 13 episodes long, which was included in the AMC denial but would certainly make sense.

I'm a Doctor of Chiropractic and I KNEW that the hours I spent in Biochem, Pathology, Clinical Neurology, Neuro-anatomy etc would actually pay off eventually.

I'm writing a short book which contains sections on "undead" physiology AND the mechanisms by which they have become reanimated (no, it's NOT a virus). I've actually figured out a very reasonable and "real science" explanation which accounts for virtually all aspects of the "life" cycle of the living dead in a real-world way. It's a completely original explanation which I have NEVER seen touched upon in any zombie-fiction or film that I've ever seen. And, yes, the zombies ARE actually dead by every known medical and scientific standard. The biochemical process of "life" has been supplanted by another system entirely. Should have the work done in another couple weeks.

So when the Zombie Apocalypse happens for real, I will now know that it's your fault.

    Well, it's not a "how-to" manual so much as a "what-the-hell-happened!?!" book.

Anyone else really surprised that they got away with a TV-14 for this show? It was pretty gruesome at times, especially during that part when the horse got attacked. I guess as long as they don't have any F-Bombs or nudity they are safe from a TV-MA rating.

And how did you find out what happened? By experimenting on dead bodies in your evil lab!

Well, I was certainly not disappointed; with just a couple of fairly minor nitpicks, I thought this was very well done. It was intelligently and dramatically written, paced for grown-ups and very suspenseful. The special effects were great, too, especially the abandoned city. The Zombies were treated quite compassionately, which was a nice touch; the guy who was unable to "kill" his wife and the mercy "killing" of the half-Zombie woman in the park were very touching. As was the scene of the main character trying to wake himself up when he returned to his house.

The opening scenes in the hospital were indeed very strange. While he obviously wasn't laying there unattended for a whole month, given the state of the hospital, he was certainly there for a long time. I wonder if it has anything to do with the Zombie virus-- he was at death's door, but the virus jump-started him. Or perhaps he is really a Zombie, just not as far gone

My only nitpicks were that he didn't seem to ask a lot of questions about the situation when he met other survivor guy. I'd be looking for details. The other weird thing was that there were no signs of the Internet or cell phones. Using the CB but not looking for a working cell phone or trying the Internet at the police station made it seem like this was set sometime in the past. Although they didn't seem to try regular radio or TV either.

Nonsense! I'm a HEALER. I make adjustments to the human spine!

Actually, working out a reasonable explanation as to how something like a "Romero-verse" zombie could possibly exist was quite a lot of fun. When I got insight into the first few pieces though, the whole puzzle rapidly began to fall in place. Frighteningly enough, it's actually kind of REASONABLE, though I don't believe for an instant it could ever actually happen. But the internal logic makes a great deal of cause-and-effect sense. And it's a MUCH more satisfying explanation than, "it's a weird virus"--something which makes absolutely NO sense at all from a scientific or medical point of view.

I'm not a really big zombie fan. I've only seen Night of the Living Dead and one of the sequels and that's about it (I did see Shaun of the Dead too and that was great). I tuned in because I heard good things about the comics and the tv series so I decided to check it out and am glad I did. I really enjoyed it. It's probably the best pilot this season. I like that it's character driven instead of just being an excuse to show something sick and gory or to have someone mow zombies down. It made you feel pity for the pour people who have been zombiefied and you don't usually get that in the zombie genre. Usually you're just screaming "kill those mothers...!" Good show, glad to see it did well. I'll be here next week for sure.
