I would have to see the "real" footage to judge for sure...if it exist at all.

It could be a device we think of as a cellphone but doesn't require a cell tower or satellite...maybe they are from a Star Ship!!!

In the first place, the footage isn't from a Chaplin feature; it's from a newsreel covering the premiere of a Chaplin film at Grauman's Chinese Theatre.
Why is that clip 9 minutes long? I haven't got time to listen to some bloke waffling on and watching half of some godawful Charlie Chaplin film just to see something that's totally fake. The clip should be 10 seconds long, 20 at most.
