MLB Talk - 2010 Season

The Rangers played better ball, so they won. Fair and square.

Well, you guys can start your damn gloating any time you like, ok? Go ahead, you know you want it.

That being said, if the Phillies win the NLCS, I *will* cheer for the Rangers - because under no circumstances will I ever, EVER, root for the Phillies. (Not in this series, anyway. The only time I would ever cheer for the Phillies in a WS is if they played the Red Sox. )

If it's Rangers/Giants, OTOH, I cheer Giants. I have nothing particular against the Giants and I would much rather cheer for them than for the team that just beat the Yanks. :(

I always cheer for the team that beat us because it says we can only be beat by the best. I like the Philies manager, though, so I'll cheer for them if they beat the Giants. And by that I mean I'll look at the score if it pops up online and say, "Oh, good."

I suppose that's one way of looking at it...not sure I can bring myself to do it though. And it's not like we can be particularly *mad* at the Rangers - they played better, so therefore they won. Can't argue with that.

It's just that...well, what most everybody else here feels about the Yankees (sid, are there any Yankee fans here besides you, me, and clint g?), I feel about the Phillies. IMHO, the Phillies are the Yankees of the NL. If the Yankees are an evil empire, then so are the damn Phillies. Why shouldn't they be? Pro wrestling has more than one 'heel', so therefore baseball can too.

And I just have a hard time switching gears 180 and immediately cheering FOR a team that I just spent six games rooting AGAINST. Although a Rangers/Phillies WS would indeed get me to do that. ;)

I always cheer for whoever is playing against the Phillies.

Buncha assholes.

Also agreed on the Phillies. Phillies/Yankees would have been a nightmare match-up for me.

Congratulations on your first trip to the World Series, Rangers! :techman:

That Craig sports reporter guy for TBS who always dresses like a lunatic is hilarious to watch. WTF?

Craig Sager. I don't know how this guy is still working, he's brutal.

What was that he had on tonight? A PURPLE suit? :guffaw:

And that toupee was worse than Shatner's. My God, I kept expecting it to leap from Sager's head and catch a foul ball itself.

Oh hell, I just realized that the only games left this season will all be on Fox so they will be called by...Joe Buck and Tim McCarver... :barf:

Ugh. How much longer does Fox have the World Series? :ack:

You must've hated last year then...when it was a Phillies/Yankees match-up. ;)
Which is exactly why I didn't watch the World Series last year.

^ I think Fox has the contract for the WS for the foreseeable future... :wah:

I think Sager's rug could call a series better than Buck/McCarver could. Hell, I'd rather listen to the ESPN douchebag-o-rama of Jon Miller and Joe Morgan.

Yeah, we've been dealing with those asshats the entire NLCS. They couldn't tell which Giants reliever was in the bullpen last night, mixing up Lopez and Affeldt.

Also, Joe Buck has a ridiculously narrow head.

^ Ironic...Jack Buck was one of the best announcers ever, and his son apparently got NONE of that talent...
