New Green Lantern movie concept art

Re: Green Lantern's Light!

Not to mention that Alan really isn't a Lantern but gets his power from the Star Heart.

Re: Green Lantern's Light!

^ You must love Alan Scott then. ;)

(yes, I know he's not officially in the Corps)

 Well, Alan's a special case. But I do love him. How can you not love a character named Green Lantern whose costume features so much red and purple? :techman:

Oh, I love him too, being a JSA fan. Though I can't decide if it's in spite of the costume or because of it...

Doesn't make him less of a Lantern, just makes him a unique one. :p

Re: Green Lantern's Light!

Last night at the Scream Awards Green Lantern won "Most Anticipated Movie" and Ryan Reynolds came out on-stage behind a rotating life-size power battery- while the entire stage was covered in a green glow and the audience apparently had green rings that they flashed while Reynolds was ushered on stage.

It was extremely cool - especially since as the power battery made its way on-stage we heard a voice-over of Reynolds as Hal Jordan reciting the GL oath. To top it off, the awards are determined based on votes submitted by anonymous voters, which made Green Lantern winning the award extra special.

Blake Lively, who is Carol Ferris in the film, presented the award and she looked extra good. :D

I've always loved the Golden Age feel (and the naiveté) of Alan's costume. Whenever they try to modernize or change his outfit, it just leaves me cold. He's a character from the 40s, and I have no problem with him looking it.

I confess that always puzzled me as a kid.

Then again, I never understood Catwoman's golden age costume either. Since when were cats purple and green?

Re: Green Lantern's Light!

She either dyed her hair or is wearing a wig since in the few pictures released so far she's got dark hair.

Alan's costume is probably about 50% Green ( the pants and the interior of the cape vs the shirt and the exterior of the cape). Hals is too. Though with some GLs there is more black than green! Which might be true with Hal too, since they dropped the green from his pelvis. With Alan its where the green is that throws you off. If the shirt was green then it would read as a greener costume.

As for Catwoman, how many blue and gray bats are there? ;)

Um, yeah. Because it would be a greener costume. ;)

But really, all of these seemingly oddly-colored costumes are just a reflection of the old four-color printing process. Primary & secondary colors just plain read the best on the page.

Re: Green Lantern's Light!

Also, in the old days, it was hard to print greys consistently. The Hulk was originally meant to be grey, but his color varied on the page, so they changed it to green, which was easier to keep consistent.

I mean if they switched the colors of the shirt and pants. :p

Had to see what it would look like:

Not bad actually. Not "right," but I could get used to that. And does look greener, somehow.

Though really, the best Alan costume is the Kingdom Come armor. Even if it is a bit over the top and should only be used sparingly. :mallory:

Re: Green Lantern's Light!

Just answer me this; has Green Lantern been green-lit? And if so, has Green Lantern's Green Light been green-lit?

Re: Green Lantern's Light!

I never meant to say that Alan was any less a Green Lantern than the others were I was simply pointing out that he derived his powers from a different source. I hope his cameo from the first draft of the script is kept in the film. I saw a video from the Scream Award segment that Jackson Archer mentioned earlier and thought it was really cool, along with the music. Presumably James Newton Howard will be composing the music for the film which excites me. Easily my most anticipated film of next year along with Duncan Jones "Source Code".

Re: Green Lantern's Light!

The Oans do consider Alan a member of the GL Corps, do they not? Even though his ring is different from theirs?

It's all good. :techman: Cameo? Anyway, I'm looking forward to this too - between this and Thor, we're getting some real cosmic-level (though with totally different themes) superheroics going on.

Honorary, IIRC.
