I've come to consider the whole videogame aspect of Doctor Who to be irrelevant. This isn't the first time the BBC has refused (and I'm using that word deliberately because they could bloody well make the arrangements if they wanted to) to make DW games available in North America. Destiny of the Doctors, which featured all 7 original Doctors -- including voiceovers by the likes of Tom Baker, and video footage of Anthony Ainley as the Master -- never saw the light of day outside the UK.
Plus, these are not the first console games to be restricted overseas -- there was a Tenth Doctor/Martha Jones Wii game called Top Trumps a few years ago.
And of course there's what I'm personally calling a fiasco involving the "free" Adventure Games. Yeah, they eventually made the first two games available outside the UK (no sign of the third, I see), but in a slap to the face they refused to release the Mac version that was issued in the UK. (I used to blame the company they hired to distribute the games over here, until I found out it was BBC Worldwide that decided to only make the Windows version international.)
So until someone really and truly understands that Doctor Who has an international audience (and the licence fee argument is utterly moot when you're talking about Wii games, right?) I'm just sticking to the TV show and the books. I just hope Moffat and company don't go too overboard in trying to tie TV continuity in with the games (as they're allegedly doing with the Adventure Games).
Just as a side note, I've been flamed for "bitching and complaining" about this topic. Frankly, though, it's only by bitching and complaining that we get results. Bitching and complaining resulted in the original versions of Star Wars Eps 1-4 being issued to DVD. Bitching and complaining saw the original Star Trek uncancelled after its first season. Bitching and complaining gets Facebook to cave in and change its policies. Maybe enough bitching and complaining, if it reaches the right eyes and ears, might get someone in a BBC office in London to pay attention and realize they're missing out on money-generating opportunities by not allowing things like these new Wii games to be released internationally, or that they could sell more copies of the Adventure Games if they let the Mac version out (and they could probably make a killing if they ported them to the iPad).
