Finally caught up on this show after plowing through three episodes a day for the past week or so. It's really gotten to be great. :techman:

So Walter inherits Massive Dynamic and his reaction the next day is to take LSD. That sounds about right.

I've really enjoyed this past run of four episodes, even though the Folivia thing makes my skin crawl. I think it's kind of ingenious that they put our Olivia into the alt-universe in order to make us more sympathetic to those characters. I wonder how long they'll stick to the split-universe theme of alternating episodes? Hopefully not too much longer. Poor Olivia / Peter.

This season reminds me a lot of Season 3 of Farscape when they split the episodes up between the crew on Moya and the crew on her child ship (whose name escapes me).

Yeah, I think just about everyone on this board who gave the show an actual chance would end up feeling the same way.

Yeah, definitely similar. And the ships name was Talyn.

...Peter seems to know something's up with Olivia but either isn't willing to make the leap or already has and is just stringing Faux-olivia along.

Based on the last scene with them sleeping together, I tend to think Peter may not be aware that she's not the real Olivia but he may, like Faux-olivia just be willing to go the extra mile (real bummer for him, I'm sure) and go along with the sex part to keep her fooled.

I hope it's that and that Peter will turn the tables on her when the timing's right.......otherwise, he's going to seem quite the doofus for picking up on how different this Olivia is, but not make the connection.

I agree. I really hope Peter *does* bring her down because otherwise it makes him look like a dumbass. I think it would make a great scene for the audience to realize he knows, but not Faux-olivia, and to see it play out.

"Yeah, uh, I was trying to fool her, yeah, that's it..."

I was one of those who checked out of Fringe after watching a handful of season 1 episodes, but I was bored one day and watched the Season 3 episodes on Hulu. They impressed me enough that I'm going to do my best to catch up and watch regularly.

I will Miss Newton.... He was such a deliciously evil cold bad guy.

There's probably an original Newton that the robot newton was templated after so my guess is we'll see him again.
Was Newton in our universe a shapeshifter? I thought he was just Newton from Over There, and he had just come over Here. I don't remember seeing any silver goop on him after the crash.

Also, is Anna Torv's blonde hair now the wig, while her red hair is dyed? It looked fake-blonde to me in this ep.

After he swallowed his "poison pill" in prison you could see the "silver goop" pooling around him.

It would also mean that Peter is dumber than Mirror Charlie, since Mirror Charlie had actual suspicions about the other Olivia not being "his" Olivia.

To be fair, Mirror Charlie got a big head start in his suspicions since Olivia was talking about how she said that this doesn't feel like this is her own life. Couple that with exchanging gunfire with your double and it's not so much of a stretch.

Peter on the other hand just notices that Olivia's behaving differently, which isn't all that unusual given recent events and their new relationship. I'd imagine your outlook on life would change a bit after finding out you can travel between dimensions with your mind (since he still thinks this is real Olivia).

Newton's first appearance was as a cryogenically frozen decapitated head that was attached to a new body by two shapeshifters with the help of some mercury tendrils in his head, so yep.

Anyway, another great episode. I've personally really enjoyed exploring the differences between the two universes and seeing how they deal with Fringe events on the other side. This season's been a lot of fun so far. I think Fauxlivia is a lot more interesting and fun as well. Obviously she has to get her ass kicked by Olivia and get sent back or killed at some point, but it's still cool while it lasts.

Hmm... I voted Average - I was expecting/hoping for more. My least favorite of the season so far.

My biggest problem was probably how easy Newton was captured - and his suicide. (?)

But there were some nice moments, and good info on the shape-shifters. But it lacked that punch that most better Fringe episodes have.

The secret is out: Neither Fringe universe is our world!
No people on this planet would watch the new boss take his pants off with such aplomb.

Joking aside, the Walter/Massive Dynamic thing can't possibly work right. Jokes are one thing, but the show(unfortunately) isn't a comedy. They've always had a serious characterization problem with Walter simultaneously being crazy and being supersmart. (Any notion that the two go together is ignorant and prejudicial.) Going this route just brings the flaw front and center.

They should show a company in the other world named Minuscule Static.

Below average.

I thought this one was better than last week's. Walter having Massive Dynamic's resources at his disposal to do whatever he wants, including solving the weekly cases, should be fun. That if he doesn't overdose first.

I like seeing feisty Altlivia playing double-agent. As expected, she's starting to second-guess her mission. I also think Peter should have already connected the dots about her. Well, maybe he did and is just enjoying the ride. I can't blame him.

So the shapeshifters develop emotional attachments to humans? That was a nice twist, imo. How many of them are out there right now?

Wow, Newton is gone. That was a surprise. I hope the writers find a way to bring him back. He's a great villain.

I think that, except for Walternate coming over to get Peter, Fauxlivia is only the second actual non-shapeshifter to come over from the other side.

I’m wondering if Olivia’s “friend”--the bowling alley guy Nina sent her to--will show up and be able to tell something’s up.

And I’d still like a closing to the stepfather issue. I don’t care if it’s a single throwaway line that says he died, just something.

stj bitching in another shows weekly thread, must be a day that ends in Y.

Peter did state that he noticed a change in Olivia. That's smart--it shows he's observant, but it's understandable he might not jump from that to "evil alternate universe double!" immediately.
