Saw this at the top of the page and decided to re-read the last few chapters. Damn, what a fine piece of work!
I guess what struck me this go-round (possibly my third time to read this? I've lost count.
) are the chilling similarities between Sandhurst and Pava. That never dawned on me before (though Pava sees it and is disturbed by it).
Sandhurst won't live as long as Pava (barring something unforeseen) which might be a blessing. Considering what he's been through (and what may yet come), Donald could very well become as stone-cold as Pava. I certainly hope that doesn't happen.
Wow - I didn't mean for this to sound so depressing. The depth you've added to your characters sometimes make them seem almost too real. Perhaps I need a counselor.
