Tennant Gives Props to Smith

Sly admitted some of the stuff was crap (IIRC) and said he hated the ???? jumper and he should've been firmer about not wearing it. he was also quite keen to say Murdoch's out to destroy the BBC and the cons should keep their grubby mitts off it and it's bloody good value for money.

Tennant is a gracious man, that's for sure.

He underestimates himself if he thinks that what Smith's managing is nearly as good as what he did as Ten.

I love Tennant and am not going to join those who slag him off. But since Smith took over, I haven't missed DT at all and with every episode, I become more and more convinced that Matt is the best Doctor ever.

That's exactly the spot I'm in. Loved Tennant but haven't missed him a bit because Smith is great! :techman:

But of course we are going to take Tennant's word (someone who actually works in the business and can act) over some internet poster who knows next to nothing about acting or what it takes to live upto an icon like The Doctor.

Smith seems to be doing a fine job.

Sez you. I'd say Smith's curious eccentric is many times better than a prancing, gurning tit who couldn't go 10 seconds without telling some fucking idiot that they're the most special person in all of creation and pulling out the crying towel.

Well you're right on one point - Tennant wouldn't put it quite like that!

It's no massive surprise that Tennant's said anything about Smith other than he's great. All the new Who folk are luvvies who'll insist everything each other does is brilliant. If an interviewer asked Moffat what he thinks of Love and Monsters, he'd probably defend it.

^ I forgot about the boyfriend...

I like your avatar.

And I really like yours.

Sure. They're professionals and it's likely that many of them are friends, such as in the case of RTD and Moffat. You're right not to be surprised.

Plus, "Love and Monsters" was great until Mike Myers showed up. :bolian:

Waterhouse complained about Tom Baker and some of the production staff of the time. It doesn't really prove that DWM isn't a puff piece though-- it's hardly courageous to let an obviously-exaggerating actor from the 1980s slag off a production team whose principal member is dead. I bet Steven Moffat is quivering in his boots at the criticism.

Yeah, DWM is nothing BUT a puff-piece for Beeb, when it comes to the modern stuff. They use 90% of their magazine to go behind-the-scenes of behind-the-scenes. It's damn silly to give pre-reviews and then post-reviews of episodes. Having said that, their coverage of the Classic stuff is much more honest and blunt thanks to the time that has passed.

I honestly didn't feel Waterhouse was exaggerating anything in his interview. It's not unheard of for Tom to be an egomaniacal asshole, Lalla to be the whiny Ice Queen, or JNT to crave the adoration of the fanbase. I've heard those stories before...

Hey, I'm not saying that. Indeed, I just finished ish #425, and Neil Harris is none-too-impressed with "The Big Bang." DWM can and will speak its mind.

Or he could view it with a critical eye and admit that maybe it didn't work out the way that planned but there were good parts and that he's not a miserable bugger on the internet who does nothing but complain.

Maybe it's because Smith actually acts like a Time Lord, and like someone who's actually clever, instead of an irritating twat who can't stand still without running around and SHOUTING AT THE TOP OF HIS VOICE ABOUT STUPID TIMEY WIMEY SHIT.

Fuck David Tennant. I only sat through his inane blathering hoping the new guy would be better. If they'd written Smith the same way, I'd have been out.
