Wonder Woman headed to the small screen

^ In fact, IIRC, one of the things Joss said after he left the project was that he had no idea what WB (and Silver) wanted from or for their WW movie but that THEY had no idea what they wanted either. Which makes it kinda difficult for a writer ...

As someone who only knows about Wonder Woman from the TV series, the animated movie and the odd comic preview, I'll try not to laugh too hard at the idea of a new TV series.

As for Smallville, what was wrong with it was that it had bland characters and poor stories. Straying from canon was never it's biggest problem.

Just as long as Kelly remembers that he's supposed to be making a TV show about a sexy woman running around in tights saving the world. Lynda Carter was able to do it without looking silly

She looked utterly rediculous. Hot for sure, but rediculous.

But the first season was set during world war two.

Did she look more ridiculous against a backdrop from the 40s or the 70s?

(yes I know you're talking about the audience.)

If she can fly in the series she will never look ridiculous (in story) because how can people who are pissing their pants in terror be the slightest bit judgy?

WONDER WOMAN could do worse than copy SMALLVILLE's approach.

The problem is that the writing on Smallville SUCKS HARD. I feel embrassed for the writers whenever I watch the show. It may have done well enough in the ratings to have lasted this long, but no one can say it is a great show without being laughed at.

If they turn Wonder Woman into a hot girl that goes to high school, I won't even bother with the first episode.

^^

Slightly Off-topic: If I were to add Smallville to my list of shows to watch, which seasons (or season) do I watch?

Ah, but if everyone looked ridiculous in the 70s... then she didn't. ;)

It'll be interesting to see what they do with her costume... a TV show will probably have more latitude to differ from the comic book-look, just as Smallville's benefited (at least in the pre-Metropolis years) from not having the tights and cape.

I agree this is a good time for female heroes on TV. Fringe, Undercovers, Nikita, Grace Park on Hawaii 5-0.

Nikita? How much interest is there for that show really? Do people talk about that show here? I remember there being lots of interest in the first episode, but talk about the series has completely disappeared.

Aragorn started a discussion/grading topic about the pilot episode, but stopped after that.

You run out of shows like that quite quickly.

And anyways, one man's shite is another man's cocaine.

You snort enough shit on other peoples say so and you begin to wonder if cocaine isn't some sort of unicorn.

All...each season has a handful of good episodes. :)

Or he could watch another show that has an entire season of good episodes.

Tks, guys...

I don't really care that much about Wonder Woman, but I'm curious just because David E. Kelley is behind it and I want to see how he'll handle a series idea that is pretty far removed from his usual comfort zone. I've enjoyed the quirky humor and drama of all his shows and hopefully this will be no exception.

Also, I want to see Calista Flockhart play the Lasso of Truth.

It's pretty sad when half the episodes from each of those seasons can be skipped. It tells you how much the writers make it up as they go along.

I'll admit that all of Smallville's season premieres and season finales are awesome. That is the only good thing I can say about the show.

Judging from his casting during the last season's of Boston legal he seems to be in love with any other accent than American in so far as his women go.

Charisma Carpenter is almost definitely too old. They're not going to cast a 40 year-old als Wonder Woman. It also doesn't help that she can really only play one character. Have you seen her on Legend of the Seeker? She was terrible.

IF they do cast an actress over 30, Lena Headey might be a good choice.

Eliza Dushku is not a bad idea, either. But I have a feeling they'll want someone even younger than that.
