Wonder Woman headed to the small screen

Not a bad call. Female action heroes have traditionally fared better on tv than on the big screen: XENA, BUFFY, ALIAS, CHARMED, the various NIKITA's, etc.
... where they become drama protagonists who have occasional action scenes, a la Smallville. Was Charmed really an action show? ;)

Well, Xena was very much an action show, as was Alias. As for the others, well, action is expensive, so naturally you can't expect most TV series to pull off the kind of nonstop action you can get in a movie. There's nothing wrong with a TV series taking a more dramatic approach with limited action; it's just common sense, especially on a tight budget.

Besides, who says a Wonder Woman show should be action-dominated? That's never been the only thing the character is about.

I didn't know that she'd worn anything that Supergirl-y...

The image in the avatar is from a publicity photo for next week's episode.

^^ I know you get away with that sort of thing in comics, but live-action it just looks absurd. Mind you...there's a lot absurd in Smallville. I've tried to get into the show periodically, but they get bogged down in too much angst and soap opera. I generally like the casting, the writing and the performances, but way too much fucking angst.

Looky, click pictures, and then click again for very large versions

Outstanding. (Though not very spoilery, if they're used as avatars. :p) Never mind another Supes movie - bring this to the big screen! :bolian:

Think about it.

How is NCIS not Wonder Woman?

As a modern day retemplating of the 70s TV show?

Ziva is a princess from the distant land of mossad who can break a man in three with just using her eye lashes, and mark me if she ties some guy up, e--------ventually he is going to tell her the truth, learning the strange ways and idioms of Americans while posing as one of thie military.

:guffaw: nice.

Obviously WB hopes this new small screen incarnation of Wonder Woman turns out to be another Smallville and not another Aquaman or Birds of Prey.

I just hope the writing is better than Smallville and it doesn't retcon things every week.

Well, here's hoping they cast Bridget Regan in the lead.
I can see her in the part.

Bridget Regan (pictured above) is my only pic to play Diana and I hope this does well. It seems that Geoff Johns will be able to tick off another one of his "to do" list items that was released around comic con. "Wonder Woman" live action project was near the top of that list. David E. Kelly being the showrunner already has high promise. It will be interesting to see what network this goes on.

Wonder Woman back to television...thats great!:techman::cool::bolian:
Kelley is an interesting choice, but he is a good writer( I liked "The Practice" and "Picket Fences" a lot) and I am sure he can write a good show.
I just hope he makes some research about the character..unless he allready is a big comicbook fan:D

I just hope they really make this one..since the WW movie wont be happening anytime soon, it seems:rolleyes::confused:
Casting will be a challenge ofcourse. They really need to pick the lead actress carefully...otherwise the show will suck.

No... It's the casting of Etta candy which has to be handled with all caution if Melissa McCartney is still busy with her dinky little sitcom. And the guy who played Steve Trevor in the TV show, what was it? Lyle Wagner? He sounded like he was doing radio spots for fabric cleaner most of the time, sure he looked the part but ever so wooden.

There's something odd going on with the Wonder Woman Villains that they're dating blokes in the JLA nowabouts... Giganta is coseying up to the all new Atom and Cheeta is snuggling into Snapper Cars snugg embrace (DC's Rick Jones.).

Wost case scenario: Kim Kardashian is Wonder Woman.

Definitely watch it but they must have;

1. One heck of a beautiful star to rival Lynda Carter in 1978

2. Lynda Carter should definitely be a recurring guest star:). And Lyle Waggoner should be in there somewhere too.

Right off the bat, wonder woman has to fly. If she can't fly then it might as well be an Aquagirl tvshow (or the Hills) because it's just a gal poncing about in her trunks.

I had the most mythic notion running over in my head right up there with the WWII political cartoons that had Popeye and/or Superman trouncing Hitler... What if in the first episode it's all about how she captures Saddam Hussein and presents him at Obamas feet?

Notion two.

David has a working relationship with Gill Bellows who played Maxwell (Love my signiture much?) Lord on Smallville... Infamous recently in comics Maxwell Lord hypnotized Superman into killing people so Wonder Woman got him into a choke hold, ordered Lord to switch off the programming, and as soon as Clark was free and clear the Amazon princess finished snapping his neck... Footage of which was leaked onot the net and into the new cycle.

I don't want a fresh start.

The Smallville universe needs to squeeze out some pods and spawn while it still can.

As I lost track of Smallville fairly early into its run and never really caught up, I've really had no reason to watch anything on the CW. A David Kelley-backed Wonder Woman would definitely get me to tune in, though.

I'm another that would like to see Bridget Regan as the lead, but as long as they get anyone who isn't a toothpick, not quite five feet tall, and platinum blonde, I'd be happy...
