Wonder Woman headed to the small screen

I'm not a huge WW fan but I have serious doubts about how you're going to pull off a larger than life mythological epic story on a CW Tv show budget.

Obviously WB hopes this new small screen incarnation of Wonder Woman turns out to be another Smallville and not another Aquaman or Birds of Prey.
I understand they are casting Kristin Kreuk as co-star, she and WW will continually almost have a dating relationship but WW secret will always get in the way and she and KK will stare at each other for long moments at the end of each episode looking serious and saying nothing, while a pop song from the Warner label plays in the background.

WW won't wear a costume but will be recognizable in a red tank top and blue Daisy-Dukes with star shaped studs.

The show will also explore the friendship/rivalry of WW and Barb Minerva who is a grad student at the local college from a wealthy family studying archeology. WW will be somewhat younger and attending the local high school. Both will be attracted to Kruek's character but will be constantly frustrated as Kruek constantly ends up dating some dull football jock.

A perky blonde sidekick is planned but not yet cast. Steve Trevor will be played by a young black teen to help show racial diversity on the show.

I hope she'll fly... oops wrong series

Seriously though, could be good, but they'd have to do a lot to compete with what Lynda Carter brought to the mythos.

No, it's the right show.

After watching Linda for years, I was amazed to notice that Wonderwoman would fly all by herself with out the invisible plane.

After watching the Electric Company for years I was FLABBERGHASTED that Spider-Man wasn't mute!

The perfect casting for the entire strata of Wonder Woman was the first season of the Gilmore Girls.

Gods.

Kelly has a working relationship with Christina Ricci, but he also has a working relationship Gina Gershon.

It also depends on the casting choices for the Lead like the actress who played Cordy in Buffy, and Angel TV series or Faith for that matter or even a unknown it worked for Tom Welling playing Clark/Superman in Smallville with Lynda Carter playing The Amazon Queen of Themyscira.
What do you think of my choices
Signed
Buck Rogers

i liked Picket Fences and The Practice, i just don't know if he is the right choice for WW. his shows tend to be a bit over the top.

Winning the Miss America Contest desn't count as being "known"?

Princess Diana?

Queen Hippolyta was actually played by a blonde Caroline "Morticia Addams" Jones.

The former Wednesday Addams playing the role of the latter Morticia Addams?

Gods, I need therapy.

Wonder Woman lead- .....if we debuted the suit in the first season we would have to call it quits

"No lasso no skirt"

:techman:

Not a bad call. Female action heroes have traditionally fared better on tv than on the big screen: XENA, BUFFY, ALIAS, CHARMED, the various NIKITA's, etc.
... where they become drama protagonists who have occasional action scenes, a la Smallville. Was Charmed really an action show? ;)

I'm really curious how they plan to package this one. I think they're going to go with cosmopolitan working woman Diana Prince who happens to be Wonder Woman on the side.
I was wondering the same thing. The US' absurdly high episode-for-season format necessarily lead to Smallville overusing Kryptonite-fueled villains, but I thought that that was a brilliant way for the show to make credible threats on the relative cheap. It'll indeed be interesting to see what this show comes up with.

@ Dennis: :bolian:

@ Brent: Where does your avatar pic come from? It's great!

David E. Kelley? Don't get too used to the supporting cast then since there will be quite the revolving door of actors.

Rogue Amazonians that flee to island and gain special powers off the island.

In later seasons we'll all laugh at the absurdity at how there are so many Amazonians on such a small island

I didn't know that she'd worn anything that Supergirl-y... any bigger pics? :)
