Chris Nolan looking for "Superman" director

If Natalie Portman signed onto Superman, would Marvel immediately replace her in Thor with Brett Ratner?

(Okay, so that was Fox with Marvel property, but still...)

Barring that, I am prepared to laugh out loud if the choice for Superman turns out to be Joseph Gordon-Levitt or someone equally weird.

I'd bet if the internet were around in its commercial form in '88 Michael Keaton would've mocked when chosen. That turned out alright for a seemingly 'weird choice'.

Well, his casting did cause uproar, but it was just to letters' pages etc.

Anyway, anyone advocating an offbeat choice for Superman, I have two words for you:

NICOLAS CAGE

Nuff said.

This article mentions the possibility of a Robert Zemeckis-directed Superman movie. I think he might be a great fit, actually. Or at least the Zemeckis who made Back to the Future and Forest Gump might. The Zemeckis who made Polar Express and Beowulf? Not so much...

I also remember petitions in comic shops back in the day. The geeks were mobilizing in '88, just in a different way.

And Matthew Bomer would be my choice as well.

I wouldn't mind Matthew Bomer as Superman, barring Nolan or whomever gets chosen as director doesn't go with Routh again.
