...ripped apart for liking ...NEMESIS, and for criticising XI, here people actually discuss and talk with eachother. :)

Er, have you read this forum?
:guffaw:

In all seriousness, it's a mix of both, in my experience. It can be hostile, and people get in petty squabbles often, but it's FAR (I mean like... three or four hundred years at warp 9.9) from the worst entertainment-related forum I've seen in those respects. And there IS a lot of good discussion to be found IMO. Overall, I enjoy posting here, or I wouldn't bother. :)

And I myself am certainly not in the majority opinion when it comes to which Trek movies are my most and least liked. :D

Appropriately enough, I shall become a Commodore and make my 2000th post defending this dear forum. :D THIS FORUM RULES! This is the best forum I've ever been on and I've been on many. It's the first one I've never been tempted to leave out of boredom or frustration with how obnoxious its members are. I've had my fair share of heated arguments here, but in the end, I've always found that people ultimately respect differing opinions and never get so riled up that they'll take personal cheap shots. Having been in forums where people will call me "a piece of shit" who "doesn't know how to watch movies" for criticizing movies they love, I find that refreshing. :) Here, I can put down anything I want, and people are pretty cool about it, no matter how much they disagree.

Now back on topic, all of you guys who like "Nemesis" and "Generations" more than "First Contact" are out of your vulcan minds! :p And will someone please give that movie another vote so it isn't tied with the wretched "Motionless Picture"? I can't stand to see the two movies rated similarly. The first Star Trek movie isn't even in the same league as the eighth! :nyah:

I see what you did there. Trying to think of why these movies seem to be equally popular, I'm wondering if maybe nostalgia plays a big part. Though I do think "Star Trek: First Contact" stands on its own as a great movie, I'm sure part of the reason I like it so much is nostalgia. It was the first Star Trek movie I ever saw, and I saw at an impressionable age.

I remember watching it for the first time as a teen and just being blown away thinking it was 'bigger and better' than the "Star Trek: The Next Generation" TV series. It may have been less sophisticated than the best episodes in terms of storytelling and thoughtfulness, but the sheen of its look was impressive enough. I was enthralled by the jump in the quality of cinematography (natural when you go from TV to movie in the 90s), production design, special effects, and even the uniforms. I wasn't watching DS9 at the time, so it was my first exposure to those gray uniforms, and I thought they were a beautiful and incredibly classy improvement from the TV series ones.

I imagine some people who love "Star Trek: The Motion Picture" are similarly at least a little under the influence of fond memories. I'm sure if I grew up watching "Star Trek", I'd be really stoked to see my heroes on the big screen for the first time 11 years later. In this case, however, I doubt many will disagree with me that the uniforms were NOT an improvement.

That was my impression of GENERATIONS. I was just blown away with the epic, larger than life feeling of this movie!

In terms of sticing most with the series, I voted "Generations".

If I had to go with in terms of being the most enjoyable, maybe The Wrath of Khan over G.

In terms of ideals closer to it's series, TMP would have won out.

In terms of garbage, Nemesis. Followed by First Contact.

FIRST CONTACT..."garbage"?

Why? The portrayal of Cochrane? The Borg? I just don't get it.

The final frontier was the favorite movie of mine ,it was science and fiction based movie. James T. kirk was the lovable character of the movie that put himself into the best shape he had been in years.

Voted for "Undiscovered Country", but it's probably a three-way tie between that "Wrath of Khan", and "Star Trek".
