Did Kirk's rather *enthusiastic* execution of Nero bug you?

ST09 grossed big at the box office, therefore, the scene was perfectly fine and I totally agree with it.

So ticket sales are the barometer of a movie's quality? If it sells a lot of tickets, it was the best written, acted, and filmed movie ever? :wtf:

A perfect example of the audience JJTrek is aimed at.

Clarify what this insult is supposed to mean in regards to Chrakh's otherwise obviously joking remark?

Oh, please. Kirk is the same Kirk, only difference is this version had his father killed by a renegade Romulan and had an abusive stepfather/uncle. Of course there will be some differences, the alternate Kirk was not brought up by the same people, but it's still Kirk. Under these circumstances, Kirk-prime would have done the exact same thing, maybe even in the original time-line.

No.

Joking? Sounded serious enough to me.

Clarification: From what I've seem on this board and other websites, there are a lot of fans who want JJTrek to make $$$ so more movies will be made... story and characters not withstanding. The view that anything labeled Star Trek is better than nothing.

That poster is a "critic," if anything their post was actually very facetious and meant as a sarcastic remark.

Box office success is usually what drives a studio to do more.

The view that anything labeled Star Trek is better than nothing.

That's the way it's always been.

So, no one has found a major flaw in this film that would make it un-watchable and none-entertaining; only stupid stuff that nobody (including the majority of the fans) cares or thinks about but is nitpicked to death here.

I'm glad to know that the things I find problematic about the film are not sufficient reason to not have enjoyed it. Thank you, TrekkBBS, for rescuing me from the mistake of misinterpreting my own opinion.

Kirk didn't learn anything from killing Nero. When Spock told him not to offer mercy he grinned and blew Nero away.
Grinned? Really? Show me where. He seems rather grim to me through that sequence.

No, that would be a silly thing to say, and I do not believe that such a claim was made. Do not attempt to put words in the mouths of others - it's a dishonest tactic, at best.

And this borders on trolling. Knock it off. Now.

Devon, are you ever going to learn to recognize when it's time to shut the fuck up and let something pass unanswered?

Come on.
Do you dislike the movie because of all that nitpicky stuff (who hit what button, wrong eye-colour, and all that shit), or because of something subjective (against which no one can argue)?

Try here and see - you remember this one, don't you? I still think that this was one of the best threads that we ever had coming from the standpoint of not liking the movie (and especially in that it completely eschewed the "being an asshole about it" factor so many other internet reviewers seem to find essential.)

Go give it a read.

In fact, I'm going to give this thread a rest until I come online tomorrow, at least -things seem to be getting a little heated.
