Id like to see more about that pact Kraven made with Lucian, I was hoping we'd see that in the 3rd film but nope...

I think they need to move the story forward, not backward. Granted Amelia was hot, but I don't see the need to explore her settling somewhere else. I think Evolution left the franchise in an interesting place and I would like to see them pick up the storyline of the transformed Selene. I'm sure there had to be more vampire covens and Lycan groups beyond what we've been shown, so I wouldn't mind seeing new Death Dealers and Lycans. With that they can perhaps find a way for Beckinsale to pass the torch to a new, hot vamp or Lycan that can then make a new round of films.
I agree with the idea of seeing the fleshing out of the Kraven pact as well. That and the Amelia story could be in the same film where Selene takes a back seat.
Another poster is right that most likely other covens exist beyond the houses we know of Marcus, Amelia(which is wiped out) and Victor. I'd think word had gotten around to them and stories post Evolution would be in order.
I hope Kate changes her mind, via $$$ or creative merit to do more Selene.

Reading through the thread I can see plenty of good ideas for both further prequel and sequel material, I can't decide. 
But from what I've heard of the fourth films production it looks to be a sequel. There are rumors that this is the beginning of a second trilogy, so theres a chance yet to see the war, earlier days of Selene, Kraven and Lucian.
Actually I wouldn't mind something like the Animatrix, only each "episode" devoted to a point between films 1 and 3. As I would like to know more about Amelia and the second Coven in the new world.

I've been waiting for Underworld 3 ever since the second one came out. Y'know one that continues the story in present day, not a prequel. I think it's a very interesting universe and story going on, but I wasn't that interested in the prequel which just showed things we already knew.

I'm a big fan of the Underworld series. Count me among those who liked Lycans as well. Despite that we know the generals of what was to happen I thought it executed well. I personally think this next one should be a prequel as well. The story already has scenes that would lend itself to 3-D. The battle in the first film between vamps & wolves where Kraven and Lucien made a secret deal would be full of 3-D possibilities.
Still I'm equally curious to know how Selene & Michael cope as upgraded supernaturals after Evolution. There has to be other covens not happy about that. Bound to be great story elements there as well!!

great news & I hope Micheal comes back too... at least the character, I dont mind if the part gets recast.

I've wondered that if Harrison Ford didn't do Crystal Skull would he have been considered for Cowboys&Aliens? He hadn't done anything in some time that showed he still had the physicality for a role like C&A or that his name was still marquee. Indy 4 showed both and this isn't an invite to share your thoughts on IJ4.
Great news about Kate and Underworld 4! Looking forward to hearing what this story will be about. I'm indifferent to the 3-D aspect, but if it's done properly, it might be worth shelling out the extra bucks.
And if Michael does return, I hope they don't do any recasting. I hate that in a franchise situation. (It's one of the reasons the sequel to 30 Days of Night isn't exciting me near as much as it should.)

She wanted out of the third one specifically, since it would have meant too much work with the timelines finding a story that suited her and Lucians pasts, but the series proper I think shes ok with.
Or maybe she just wanted a break? Or was booked for something else at the time?
(This is just pure speculation on my part. I have absolutely no inside info on the subject.)
