boardwalk empire -- anyone watching now?

I really liked it. I knew the way HBO had been hyping it it had to be good and it met my expectations. Strong cast, solid opener, and good production values. Looking forward to seeing the rest of the season.

It had a very good pilot that grabbed me from the beginning and let me go in the end. Nucky Thompson is a character who has my complete attention and I'm curious to see what else he's going to do in future episodes. I'm also loving Nucky's mentor-student/father-son relationship with Jimmy which kind of reminds me of the Tony-Christopher relationship from the Sopranos.

While not wholly original (its got every gangster trope in the book), it was still pretty damn good. I'll definitely be watching to see where it goes.

Loved it, very enjoyable watch.

Who whacked the Chicago guy with the mustache at the end though?

The connection isn't explicitly stated, but Capone did tell Colisimo he didn't want him to enter the liquor business. Capone being the powerful guy had him whacked. This happened shortly after the location changed to Chicago, which is Capone's home turf.

I really enjoyed it for the first 20 minutes, then that "Irish" woman showed up and her accent completely threw me out of the show. Once she left the screen (and speakers) things were better. Overall, I really liked it.

It's a bit weird how Michael K Williams is in the episode for 1 line and we don't see his character again, it's almost as if the episode was trying to say "look, we have Omar!" Hopefully he'll have a proper role in the rest of the series.

I don't have a link to the specific interview now, but Terence Winters has stated that Williams will be back in a big way because his character is essential to Nucky's control over Atlantic City.
