Audrey's surprise birthday party at a local hotel goes awry when a shapeshifter stalks the partygoers, and nobody knows who can be trusted.

Who's Emily? I thought that was a picture of Maggie Grace Cuthbert. :p

Re: "Haven" (new SyFy series starring Emily Rose) - Discussion & Spoil

I think this may have been the best Haven episode ever... so I grade it 5/10.

Storytelling is still very clunky. And the exposition rivaled the Nikita pilot for how awful it was. And if I were Audrey, I'd be pissed about all the people who have kept information from her (for no real reason whatsoever other than because they move at the speed of plot).

They've probably been watching too much Lost. :rommie:

Nathan and Audrey investigate a series of murders, but the prime suspects insists that she's trying to stop the real killer. Meanwhile, in the aftermath of Duke's revelation, Audrey continues to investigate the Colorado Kid mystery involving her mother.

Ratings will probably plummet without an original episode lead in.

Last week's episode was pretty good. Isolated island, old dark house, tense suspicion and paranoia, and some funny character interactions. It was a shame that they killed off the doctor, though. I thought she was going to make a good ally for Audrey.

Re: "Haven" (new SyFy series starring Emily Rose) - Discussion & Spoil

I liked the doc's ascerbic personality but her daughter might turn out to be ok. It's interesting about Nathan's new "feelings". I like this show, so I warn you all that it's usually the kiss of death if I like a SF or fantasy show.

This was one of the first episodes I've seen. I liked the interactions, but the plot was full of holes. Killing off the doctor-- what did that have to do with the episode? I'm not even sure the killer got her. Looked like she just fell down the stairs.

And the characters were saying some really odd things. If we leave the island, we risk taking the killer with us. We need to stay here to keep it from getting back to civilization. Excuse me? People, this isn't THE THING. That guy had plenty of access to the mainland before you arrived, and he'll have plenty of opportunity to leave in the future. Shooting holes in one rubber boat isn't going to inconvenience anyone except you. Morons.

And assuming that the killer was suddenly about to start a killing spree after 20-odd years-- why, again? From what we know about him, he's more likely to settle down for another 20-30 years in his new form.

And the identity of the killer. I'm still trying to decide if it was inspired, or just plain :rolleyes::rolleyes: , considering that his victim didn't even die. (And it threw a reset button onto most of her character interactions for the episode.)

Re: "Haven" (new SyFy series starring Emily Rose) - Discussion & Spoil

That's been the trouble with the show. Appealing characters and actors, but weak storytelling. I want to like it because of the characters, but it really needs to improve.

Re: "Haven" (new SyFy series starring Emily Rose) - Discussion & Spoil

This last episode was really really really stupid. The only smart thing was the kid telling Audrey and Nathan to prove that he was a superpowered killer. It was funny how he ended up getting killed though.

At least they're finally moving toward their very poorly developed mythology, even though I suspect it will be very underwhelming.

I had this on as background last night, I haven't seen it since the beginning, and yeah, his demise was hilarious. I don't know if it was intentional or not but it was funny.

Re: "Haven" (new SyFy series starring Emily Rose) - Discussion & Spoil

how did Audrey know he was going to blow up & not blow them up? I like this show but geez sometimes...

does anyone else think Duke
might be the Colorado Kid himself?

Re: "Haven" (new SyFy series starring Emily Rose) - Discussion & Spoil

I haven't actually read that book, but didn't Colorado Kid refer to a murder victim or something? Or has that changed for the series, like "Thin Man" and "Night Stalker" did?

Re: "Haven" (new SyFy series starring Emily Rose) - Discussion & Spoil

yeah but
Duke says he is killed by a guy who had the same tatoo the Colorado kid's killer had so either the killer is still around...or there's gonna be some time traveling shenanigans to come. With this show anything is a possibility.
:)

Re: "Haven" (new SyFy series starring Emily Rose) - Discussion & Spoil

Yes, now that I've seen the episode I see what you mean. It will be interesting if this show actually expands on the book rather than just being derived from it; I wonder if King was able to get a guarantee of episodes so that it isn't left hanging.

I'm also wondering if that crazy guy is really all that crazy, or if he really did see what he claimed to see. It would be a nice Lovecraftian touch for a New England-based show. :D

Audrey’s loyalty is put to the test when the FBI makes a visit.

Three more episodes before this show is canceled. I think this is the episode where something supernatural happens, Audrey and Nathan immediately come to the correct conclusion without any factual evidence and then the episode ends, but not before at least 20 seconds is spent to say "Colorado Kid" in a completely unrelated context to the episode.

Re: "Haven" (new SyFy series starring Emily Rose) - Discussion & Spoil

Cancellation is probably inevitable. It's a shame, but I can't say it's not deserved
