Voy Slash Fic That Disturbs and Fandom

^ I never saw a J/K story until after "Endgame" aired. I always figured it was a "what's good for the gander is good for the goose" reaction to C/7.

As they look lovingly into each other's eyes...

Oh I forgot about Janeway/ Neelix :barf:

I'd rather read J/K...

No there is No subtext for J/K. The writer must have been bored with everything else.

Neelix had the hots for Janeway though. That was obvious.

How about J/EMH?

I think you would probably have to go back and watch all of Voyager, making a point to look for any J/K subtext. Like most everyone else I can not think of any scenes where I got a J/K vibe.

Somethings just have no logic, rhyme or reason. People just get crazy ideas and go with them.

My favorite odd fanfic topic is tv crossovers that either make you go WTF or AWESOME.

Just a few of my favs:
Sex and the City with Highlander
Doctor Who with Laverne and Shirley
Stargate SG1 with Sailor Moon
CHiPs with Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Mighty Morphin Power Rangers with Star Trek TOS
Barney Miller with The Flying Nun
Saved By the Bell with Rent the Musical
Little House on the Praire with Twilight (In Swedish)

Again, personally, I could never imagine a J/K pairing, but someone who was looking for scenes that might hint in that direction could take the ending of The Disease, as already mentioned, where Harry says "That was five years ago. I've changed." and Janeway responds "Yes, you have." Harry "Maybe I'm not that perfect officer anymore." And Janeway looks deep into his eyes "Maybe...but you're a better man!" I'm getting sick...sorry.

If anyone ever fancied their teacher, they could probably see J/K if they looked hard enough at Voyager. Kim was the biggest teachers' pet in the Delta Quadrant, after all.

Interesting :vulcan:

Never thought of it that way...

I had a teacher once...

Actually, I got a bit of unfortunate subtext when someone earlier mentioned the J/K interactions and Janeway being a "disciplinarian."

"You've been a bad, bad little officer, Ensign. Assume the position."

"How did you think Tom got his pip back?"

Ah, but Tom is a special case, having been the father of Janeway's children... :vulcan: :wtf: :ack:

Not even fanfiction ever got as ridiculous as that episode.

Before the pilot, Janeway laughed/scoffed about Kim being anything useful or decent (designing Astrometrics) when Chakotay was shredding the Temporal prime directive in Shattered and later in nightingale she says something like "(SNORT!) Well, you certainly thingk hghly about yourself!" when he sugested that he wuold already have been a lieutenant commander if he'd stayed in the AQ by that point in time.

Janeway has no respect for little Kim.

And what was that codswallop about him being a "PERFECT OFFICER"?????

Pull the other one.

I recall a lot of mother/son text (not even subtext) between Harry and Kathryn. Unlike Seven and Kathryn, where there was a lot of heat that could be taken in a few different ways, it was pretty clear from the onset of the show that J/K was strictly a parental pairing, not even mentor/student.

So, this pairing really takes me by surprise.

Did anyone see any evidence of anything that could be construed as subtext for a romantic pairing between Kathryn Janeway and Harry Kim?

Someone, please help me out here, because I'm at a loss.

I think you are right about there being no subtext basis for J/K during the series. The only J/K story I ever saw that worked was an "Endgame" story where both Admiral Janeway and Captain Kim came to Voyager. It was written in 2003 by a rather well known J/C shipper.

There's the sloppy seconds issue to deal with as well.

How often would Harry follow in after, approaching romantically a woman on the crew, who Tom had already made a notch in his bedpost for? I'm not saying that women have to be virgins, it's just weird when your best friend gives you tips, pointers and warns you about pitfalls about some one you're falling in love with, all the while you're wondering if you're competing with the memory of his previous accomplishments?

If Harry had less than triplets after the fist time he has the sex with his captain, then he loses and Tom gets to have a little victory dance about who is the better more potent lover.

It's wiser to steer clear of such entangling messes.

Men. We're crazy.
