Questions about what's what

Okay, so I'm doing alittle research for my fanfic and there are plenty of things I dk about/in the Star Trek universe. So I have many questions. I thought if I had questions other fans do as well.

This thread is exactly that. Anything in Star Trek, you want to know more about type it here.

All of Star Trek or just DS9?

First up: where did the Vorta and Jems come from? They must have been genetically engineered, but by who? The Founders don't seem like the type to have done that.

Finally a place on the Internet where Trek fans can ask questions

What is this Star Trek you speak of?
It's a film franchise created by George Lucas featuring lovable characters like Luke Skywalker, Leia Goldbikini and Omar Little. Luke is a delivery boy that travels to the year 3000 and starts working for his distant nephew, Professor D Vader. Eventually, Luke becomes a hero when he leads the fight against the ancient Shadows and unites the galaxy.

Questions have their place, but I prefer endlessly droning on about about my own opinions and beating others over the head relentlessly with my own narrow vision of reality. Can we start a thread for that, too?

Ah, no need. Just wait till someone asks a question you feel passionately about, then you can endlessly drone on about our own opinion and beat us over the head relentlessly with your own narrow vision of reality.

Hmm. Is this thread copied to just each of the series forums? Or every single one on the BBS. Inquirering minds ya know.

I'm really hopeful that these threads get locked in the correct order. First, the TOS one was closed, then the TNG one, now we need to organise things so that the DS9 one is locked next, then the Voyager one, and finally the Enterprise one. I'll start by getting this thread locked with some hardcore pornography.

Here's a picture of what Scott Bakula got up after our picnic on his ranch:

No! Enterprise needs to be locked first, since they should be locked in order of canonicity!

Anyway, I met a Star Trek once. He was the star of trek and feld.

I have one;

What is Deep Space Nine "deep space" to? It's not that far from Bajor and as a Bajoran administrated station, surely they named it? If it is the Starfleet term for the station do we hear a Bajoran name referenced on-screen?

It was originally a Cardassian outpost, known as Terok Nor. I'd imagine there are plenty of Bajorans who would really rather call it by its Starfleet name for emotional reasons, heh.

It's "Deep Space Nine" because it's in fairly deep space compared to the Sol system and all that. It's really far from the core Federation worlds. I'm not 100% sure on this explanation but it makes sense to me.
