CAPTAIN AMERICA-shooting July 2010:Casting, Rumors, Pics till release

Re: CAPTAIN AMERICA-shooting July 2010:Casting, Rumors, Pics till rele

Yeah I think Joss reworking the script was mentioned earlier in the thread...really early on I think.

Re: CAPTAIN AMERICA-shooting July 2010:Casting, Rumors, Pics till rele

Some 2nd unit filming took place at Trafalgar Square for Captain America. Apparently its scenes for VE day during WWII. Some photos can be viewed here of the period piece extras in wardrobe and a car carrier stocked with 1940 era cars.

Extras for director Joe Johnston's Captain America: The First Avenger filmed a scene at Trafalgar Square in London, England on Sunday that takes place on VE Day (the day when the World War II Allies formally accepted the unconditional surrender of the armed forces of Nazi Germany and the end of Adolf Hitler's Third Reich). The extras were seen hugging each other and dressed in period clothing.

Looks really good. I eagerly await the first teaser trailer.

the one of the guy in the RAF uniform holding up the replica Daily Mirror was in the real paper today. can't imagine why....

Re: CAPTAIN AMERICA-shooting July 2010:Casting, Rumors, Pics till rele

the lack of casting announcements/leaks for the Invaders has led me to wonder if they got dumped or if the name was used for the Howling Commandos after...

^^^
Now that the Invaders have been brought back up it does make me curious what happened to them. Are they still involved or did they get cut?

In other news of a tidbit manner though.

Stanley Tucci gave some sound bites on his character Dr.Erskine.
“I play Dr. Erskine who’s described as an elderly German scientist. I have to do an accent and be elderly. When they asked me to play him initially I was like ‘Is that like a compliment or is that an insult? I don’t know?’”
"I shot with Chris Evans, and Dominic Cooper, and Tommy Lee Jones and Hayley Atwell. I love the role. It’s really well written. I’d never done anything like that before. I’ve always wanted to do a German accent. It’s so much fun. It’s really interesting. Very good script, great experience. I was shooting it in London and I go back in a month and a half."

Then of course there is the looming question that keeps getting asked. "How does Cap fit into this expanding Marvel Cinematic Universe?"
Director Joe Johnston addresses some of that here.
There are links between all the Marvel films, mostly ones that only the fans will pick up on. We have several subtle references to certain elements in Thor, but since Captain America is a period picture taking place in the 40’s, there are fewer opportunities for contemporary links to the rest of the Marvel universe. We can, however, create events in our story that will be paid off in Avengers and other Marvel pictures.
I'm not surprised of the Thor link(s). When Iron Man & Incredible Hulk came out both had direct links. What we know so far is the linkage with Skull and the cosmic cubes at a Norse burial site. So that maybe the link he refers to. Creating events that pay off later is interesting quote. I'm wondering what subtle or non-subtle things they may have in there that can/could tie into Whedon's Avengers.

Nick Fury is supposed to be a WWII Vet who had his aging slowed if not stopped entirely thanks to a Super-Soldier formula knock-off called the Infinity Formula, SHIELD was formed to fight HYDRA (which the Skull is head of in this version), and since IM2 says that Howard Stark was a SHIELD founder I'm guessing what he sees in this film will lead up to the formation of SHIELD.

Re: CAPTAIN AMERICA-shooting July 2010:Casting, Rumors, Pics till rele

if they go the Ultimate Origins route, Fury was injected with the super-soldier formula during testing before it was given to Rogers. a la whatsisname Bradley from the Red, White and Black mini.

Re: CAPTAIN AMERICA-shooting July 2010:Casting, Rumors, Pics till rele

Howard Stark is supposed to have a considerable role in "Captain America" and I though the "Invaders" weren't going to be the Invaders we know? Could have sworn I read that somewhere...since we've not heard anything from them it's likely that Joss dropped them out during his polish.

Re: CAPTAIN AMERICA-shooting July 2010:Casting, Rumors, Pics till rele

there was a story that the Invaders name was being appropriated for the Howling Commandos. that's not confirmed as yet.

Re: CAPTAIN AMERICA-shooting July 2010:Casting, Rumors, Pics till rele

I could see them combining the Howlers and the Invaders into a single group.

I wouldn't be surprised if the naming of SHIELD was 'in honour' of Captain America, like if all they find at the end is his shield.

Re: CAPTAIN AMERICA-shooting July 2010:Casting, Rumors, Pics till rele

Maybe, and then they spend the next 60 years or so trying to find out how they can turn it into an acronym.

Re: CAPTAIN AMERICA-shooting July 2010:Casting, Rumors, Pics till rele

nah, cuz in IM1, everyone's calling it Strategic Homeland Intervention, Espionage Logisitcs Directorate and at the end Coulson says 'call us SHIELD' like it's new.

Hot on the heels of Emma Frost's stunt double and January Jones, we get Chris Evans stunt double
