Johnny Depp is now and forever the obvious guy to play Poe, but Cusack's not a bad choice...we should be grateful it isn't Shia LeBouef.

John Cusack blurted out on Twitter that he'll play Edgar Allen Poe in The Raven. ...the drama is set in the last five days of Poe's life, when a serial killer is running around Baltimore using Poe's stories as the backdrops for his killings. Poe and a young detective have a ticking clock to outsmart the killer before he strikes again. V For Vendetta's James McTeigue will direct, and production will begin late fall in Serbia.

Tsk tsk to Nikki Finke for getting Poe's name wrong. Guesses who the young detective might be? Shia LeBouef as the teenage Sherlock Holmes!

Far too young. Holmes was born in 1854. Poe died in 1849.

You're complaining about birth dates being historically accurate when I'm suggesting mixing a real person and a fictional one? Anyway, since when do Hollywood and history intersect? Holmes is a fictional character who can easily be rewritten to be born early. They could rewrite Poe for that matter!
