Hooray, I know this probably isn't a big deal, but to me, I am really happy about this. For the longest time this area has only had the EDGE Network as the fastest cell phone network, and now, finally, 3G has come to Boone, NC! Rumors are that iw as supposed to be coming late 2009, then the rumors were late 2010, looks like it is late, but not as late as it could have been. As of yesterday, I had off and on 3G, but as of today, it is a constant steady 3G everywhere I have been in town today.

It is about darn time too, though Boone is a small town, relatively speaking, it isn't that small since ASU (Appalachian State University) is located here, so its a big college town and honestly has a lot of people here. I'm glad I can finally use my new Android phone to its fullest capability now!

I am also getting GOOD speeds, I just did a speed test with the Speedtest app and I'm getting, at 3G speeds, 292 KB/sec down and 46 KB/sec up, it isn't the fastest I've seen on 3G, but it is a LOT better than the 11 KB/sec down and 6 KB/sec up I was getting on EDGE up here, I'm sure as they tweak it more It'll get even better.

Just had to post my excitement

For about half a second, I thought you were referring to ASU (Arizona State University) which has 60,000 students on campus alone.

It'll blow you're mind once they get HSPA with fiber backhaul there. 5Mb down/2Mb up everywhere you go. You start getting to the point where the actual bottleneck is your phone's CPU, even if its 1GHz.

I could have used this a week ago, I was visiting my mother in Valdese NC and I had no signal what so ever. I only got to talk to my wife via Face Time over wi-fi.
