The Girl with the Dragon Tatoo has finally been found

Looks like it's Rooney Mara..

EW Article

I love the original and I'm not familiar with Mara's work, so we'll have to see... The article's picture wasn't too flattering.

Interesting.

I just saw The Girl Who Played With Fire last week. I thought it was good, but not as good as the first movie.

I am looking forward to seeing what Fincher does with this material.

I am too.. Saw "Fire" last week as well.. There were elements I thought were better than the first, but overall, not as compelling as "Tatoo"...

Only seen her in ER (And don't remember her in that).

Fingers crossed. The original version is good, and I believe Fire will be released at the cinema here shortly, so I'll check that out

She's not my idea of how the character appears in the novels. Maybe when they get her in character... Noomi Rapace looks nearer to it for me. I still haven't seen the original film. But not for lack of trying! My jury's still out on whether Daniel Craig can be Blomkvist's engaging character, too.

Check out his performance in Enduring Love as a philosophy professor stalked by a relentless admirer. :)

Mind you I haven't (yet) read the book, I'm only thinking of him in light Michael Nyqvist's performance in the Swedish film(s).

Were we missing one?

No, she's living happily in the pages of Larsson's novels. :)

Thanks for the heads up!

Oh, do check out the novels. I've just finished the first one and loved it to death.

Willsbabe: "Living happily" is rather always questionable when it comes to deal Lisbeth. :)

Having seen the Swedish film, I don't see the need for Hollywood to even do this. Rapace nailed the character, IMHO.

But if they had to do it, I don't know why Summer Glau couldn't have done it...:D

Yes.. Have to agree with you on all counts...

I find the 2009 version near perfect to the book. Sure it is different skips parts and simplies things, but all in all I like the feel of the movie.

She played Nancy in the Nightmare on Elm Street remake. She didn't do a good job, but it didn't help that the movie wasn't scary at all.

She also stars as Erica in David Fincher's The Social Network in which she plays a pivotal role. That's probably how she got the role, because of her prior working relationship with Fincher. Which gives me some confidence. If Fincher liked her, she must be good.
