Perfectly MIScast?

As a companion piece to backstept's thread about Perfectly Cast characters, who are some actors you think were horribly miscast in a TV or Movie adaptation?

Here's mine:

-Mos Def as Ford Prefect in the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy film. Too low energy & mellow. And sadly, not British.

-Arnold Schwarzenegger as Mr. Freeze in Batman & Robin. Ugh.

-Halle Berry as Storm in the X-Men movies. None of the mystery or gravitas the character had in the comics. I hated every second she was onscreen.

-Charlton Heston as Sherlock Holmes in the TV movie The Crucifer of Blood. The worst Sherlock Holmes I've ever seen, with Roger Moore from Sherlock Holmes in New York a close second.

-Eric Bana as Bruce Banner/The Hulk. Bruce Banner should not look like he can beat up the bad guys all by his lonesome.

-Will Smith as James West in the Wild, Wild West movie. For reasons that should be obvious... :wtf: :rolleyes:
 
I wholeheartedly agree with Will Smith as James West. I loved that show as a kid, and that movie was a travesty of a mockery of a sham.

Cedric the Entertainer as Ralph Cramden? Give me a fucking break. That was just a really bad idea. I felt physically ill when I tried to watch it, and I'm actually surprised that I even tried to watch it at all. Whenever I even think about this movie for whatever reason (as in when I run across it on TV), I instinctively want to go on a bloody killing rampage.

I don't love everything he's done, but in general I'm a pretty big Adam Sandler fan. However, his being cast to play Paul Crewe in the remake of The Longest Yard was ludicrous. (How about a remake of Smokey and the Bandit starring Patton Oswalt as Bandit? :rolleyes:)

I know I just mentioned this recently in another thread, but I'd be truly remiss if I did not mention Shelley Duvall in The Shining. I know plenty of people think she's great, but for me watching her try to act is a true test of my will to live.

The Dukes of Hazzard(Movie) with the exception of Willie Nelson and Burt Renoylds, the rest of the movie was just off. I did like it, but it could have been so much better.

Nick Cage- Any movie he ever did. So glad we are not saying Nick Cage in Superman.
 
Val Kilmer as Batman, Tommy Lee Jones as Two Face, Jim Carrey as Riddler in Batman Forever.

The entire cast in Batman and Robin, except for the returning actors that played Alfred and Gordon.

I'll give you Michael Gough as Alfred, he really was one of the few bright spots of the Schummacher Batman movies, reprising his role from the Burton movies.

But, Pat Hingle as Commissioner Gordon in my opinion is the definition of miscast. First, he wasn't right physically, Jim Gordon is taller and thinner. Second, Jim Gordon may be many things, but he is always effective. Gordon in Batman and Robin was a fool. Granted most of my gripes are due to the writing, but nothing about Pat Hingle's turn as Gordon seemed true to his portrayal in the comics. Again, this is nothing against Hingle as an actor, he did the best with what he was given.
 
Every awful member of the cast of "Interview With The Vampire" EXCEPT Kirsten Dunst who actually was just fine.

By contrast, "Queen of the Damned" seemed brilliant (and did actually have some good casting for a B-movie).

I thought Cruise and Pitt had an interesting homo-erotic thing going. I liked them. I especially liked Cruise's drama queen behaviour.

For the movies, they were going back to the noirish, pulpy roots of Batman. The Hingle version of Gordon fit that bill well.
 
Here's another vote for Will Smith as Jim West, even though I DO like the movie and even own it. I do give Smith credit for at first being reluctant to accept the role.

I'm still angry that they let George Clooney get away. They wanted him to play Artie (seriously!), and he said he wouldn't do the movie unless he played Jim. Stupid Sonnenfeld... We would've had the PERFECT movie version of Jim West if it weren't for him!!!
