Van Halen recording new CD with David Lee Roth

The news that Van Halen is recording its first studio album in twelve years with original lead singer David Lee Roth may have fans wanting to, well, jump. It has certainly been a long wait since 1998's "Van Halen III." Speculation of a recorded reunion has been thrown around since 2008, when Van Halen completed a successful reunion tour that featured original frontman David Lee Roth with the band for the first time since the 1984 Tour (plus a brief appearance at the 1996 MTV Music Awards).

That much-anticipated new album has now been confirmed: Guitarist Eddie Van Halen and his brother, drummer Alex Van Halen, released a statement saying, "[Van Halen] is currently in the studio recording an album with Roth that is due for release in 2011."

I'll believe this when I've got the CD in my hands. This is definitely a believe it when you see it type of thing.

Like you, I'll believe it when I see it.

I'm still waiting for that miraculous day when a kickass concert DVD comes out. Almost all iconic bands have one. I know at some point in VH's heyday that they must have thought to have a show or tour filmed. It probably exists, but it's just caught up in a million miles of red tape, legal nightmares, or just stifled by infighting. We'll see...

^^ Eddie is right now editing Michael Anthony out of that footage and will digitally put Wolfgang in his place.

I'll believe the album when I (finally) hear it. Roth is a flaky egomaniac, and Eddie is a douchey egomaniac. I wouldn't be half surprised if they ended up bringing Sammy Hagar in to finish the album, about two years from now...

Ha I think we've had this exact exchange on this forum before. I just had major Deja Vu.

Van Halen hasn't been relevant in any way in at least a decade, I really don't care what they do or who sings it.

^ And all because he started selling his own line of hot sauces, if Anthony is to be believed.

LOL, I think you're right. I'm ripping off my own previous comments!

In an unlucky turn Anthony had named his hot sauce "Wolfgang Van Halen, Bassist"

Anthony was on Adam Carrolla's podcast several months ago and he took the high road, refusing to say anthing bad about Wolfgang, and that he really likes the kid.
I'm sure lawyers and contracts probably keeps him from saying what he really wants to say, but apparently he's still getting money from the VH camp for his past work, and he's got that new band with Sammy, so he's ok.

I got the Chickenfoot album, it's pretty good. I prefer it to most of Satch's solo albums, but I was expecting something a little more diverse from a band with Chad Smith and Satch in it to be honest.

It's all sort of powerful rootsy blues rock, amazing instrumentation but ultimately I find the writing underwhelming.

^^ I listened to the samples of the album on iTunes and it didn't really grab me so I decided to take a pass.

And the Title will be
V/H 2012 ("Eddies Democracy")
though it may take longer that Chinese Democracy to come out,

Who sold sauces? Are they any good?

Yeah, I was expecting so much more from it. I know they could do so much better than what they did in their debut album.

As a VH fan i have been hearing this story for the last few years, they are getting back together again, doing a new album and touring nothing happens, what about wolfie(wolfgang van halen,EDDIE'S son)will he be playing bass like he did on the reunion tour or will mike be there?.
