"Star Trek: Phase II" Enterprise

One thing I would like to see would be for a Flint like immortal character to serve on Earth ships over the centuries, with different filming processes used. Some historical footage on Super-8, old video cameras used on the Doctor who, etc. Each camera would give its own warmth to each scene...

I forgot Ilia was a cast member at this time also! (Maybe it's some type of strange Freudian symptom; in overlooking my own onset of baldness, I'm inadvertently ignoring other bald people...?)

Truth is, I love the 3D swoosh of the main title for its own sake. That said, I agree with some of the others here that it's out of place for mid- to late-70s. I'd go for something that looks more like film effects. Here's an old "fall preview" ad from NBC circa 1978 that has at least three of the effects I can imagine seeing here: 1) rainbow zoom of the borders of the letters, about as 3D as it got back then; 2) starbursts alongside curtain-style reveals of the other titles; 3) Dean Martin, for no particular reason, inserted in the middle.

For the "swoosh" sound, again, I'd stick with the rudimentary stuff that was available at the time. Either: 1) a recording of a passing jet fighter, perhaps sped up from 33 rpm to 45; 2) cymbals.

Hmmm, something more 70's. Maybe:

Star Trek: Keep on truckin'

What, you think they didn't?

There's a record somewhere in my attic that has a Star Trek version of Convoy on it called "Starfleet."

"We've got a great big Starfleet, traveling through the night..."

Ah, the memories of the 70's Star Trek conventions...
