Which Bridge set is your favorite?

Hello forum. This is my inaugural post, and a question I have been contemplating for a little while. The Season One set is my personal favorite. I like the dark walnut fittings, the flip-up control panels on the Captain's chair and the general 80s-ish-ness of it. Beige colors, fluorescent console lamps, and those padded walls make it look oh so inviting, too.

Personally, I preferred the revamped Enterprise-D bridge from Generations. I wish those alterations had been made years earlier.

I agree, I thought the Generations bridge was the best. It would have been great if these upgrades had been incorporated in the refit after "the best of both worlds"

I'm a little odd, one of my fave bridge sets was in Paraells (however its spelled lol).

At tactical the old oak curved beam is gone, replaced with metal, and there's a standing glass cutaway tactical overview of the D. I liked how anyone on the bridge could simply glance at the large cutaway and get current info, instead of walking all the way over to the back of tactical.

I liked the Generations bridge as well, though the "All Good Things..." bridge of the future enterprise wasn't too shabby either.

The Season 1 bridge just seemed to dark at times. That could have been how it was lit though.

I loved the Generations bridge also. The look was achieved as much, if not more so, with the superb lighting as set redress.

I'm surprised most people like the Generations bridge. Isn't it the exact same thing but with dramatic movie lighting? I detested the 'mood lit' Enterprise, just because I missed the soft, even lighting from the show.

The RedLetterMedia guy touched on that, but it just seemed more confusing to him. I always disliked it.

I like the bridge from Seasons 2-7, but not Generations. Compared to the first season:
1) I don't like the flip-up control panels - why not keep them open as in subsequent seasons?
2) the navigator chairs looked very uncomfortable in Season 1.

I know that the carpets changed several times throughout Seasons 2-7, but other than that, the rest stayed the same, am I right?

I do like the padding from Season 1, but didn't miss it later.

What do you mean about the fluorescent lighting?

Oh, and welcome, Alex.

Hi there! :bolian:

I like the bridge from Seasons 2-7

My personal favourite too, although...

I do like the padding from Season 1, but didn't miss it later.

Do you mean the side panels on either side of the bridge? These were a plywood-type material in season one, replaced by padding in seasons 2-7.

What do you mean about the fluorescent lighting?

I think the computer panels were originally back lit by fluorescent lighting. This was in the days before technology caught up and Okuda could draw his diagrams on the Mac.

My favorite bridge setup was definitely the one from Generations. The lighting wasn't the best, but it was the bridge setup I liked the best. If the had might the lighting sort of an in between of what they had in Generations and the tv show it'd be perfect to me.

No wonder I didn't miss it! Thanks for the correction.

Understood. Thanks.

I hate the Generations bridge. I understand that they wanted (and film would allow for) more dramatic lighting, but it was just too dim.

And, the original sweeping design of the bridge, with the walkways on either side, was completely disrupted by replacing them with stairs. Too clunky, and how would disabled people get up and down?

They actually didn't replace them with stairs, they kept the ramp, they just extended the second level of the bridge around the wall and cut the width of the ramp in half.

I like the Generations Bridge but at the same time I'm not a huge fan of the additional stations or of the handlebars placed throughout. I do like the lighting.

But overall, I think the bridge as we see from Season 3 onwards is the best. The bright lighting and warm tones of the bridge seem to fit better with my "view" of the more peaceful 24th century. I do like the "night watch" lighthing, though.

I liked the season one bridge, but I didn't like the pink carpet. I think it goes well with mission of starfleet. Out of the movies, Sovereign bridge looks magnificent.

Anybody got pictures of the differences?
