I just had a humorous thought about 'Parallels'

Near the end of the episode, when the barrier between realities starts breaking down, a crazy number of alternate Enterprises start appearing - 285,000 according to Memory Alpha.

I was just thinking that it would be funny if, say, a cloaked Romulan ship was on a spy mission in the area. Imagine their reaction to seeing 285,000 Galaxy class ships.

I do recall a line about the Bajoran ship that caused the problems "disengaging" or something to that effect. :)

Yeah, I remember that, just watched it the other day.

But how come none of the Enterprises materialized in the same place and...i dont know, blew up or something?

My thought on Parallels: why did a ship with Wesley Crusher as Chief of Security not get overrun by any intruder?

Would have been fun to put those 285k Enterprises to use and invade the entire AQ! :D

I can understand the ship is on the verge of collapse, Captain Riker, but I'm pretty sure all the scissors on board are still fully functional, Sir

Given enough time, that probably would have happened eventually.

(Riker, weeping after the assimilation of Earth) I swear, no blade shall touch my face until the Borg scourge is brought to justice!

By the way, there's no one else we can recruit for officers. Mr. Worf, you now are to run the conn, helm, science, and tactical. Double as the counselor too.

My thought on Parallels: why did a ship with Wesley Crusher as Chief of Security not get overrun by any intruder?

Simple.... he would have tossed all sorts of mini tractor beams and force fields all over the intruders and then he'd use his super powers to send them off into another dimension, 500 millions years in the past.

Crusher will Crush YOUZ!!!!UBER!1111!!!

My thought on Parallels: why did a ship with Wesley Crusher as Chief of Security not get overrun by any intruder?

In his universe, when Wesley makes a good suggestion, it's listened to regardless of his age.

Ergo, he makes the suggestion that it's quite stupid for the bridge tactical officer and the chief of ship's security to be the same person, so Wesley is the tactical officer, having studied starship combat and systems operations; and a person who has studied hand to hand combat and systems operations is the chief of security.

(sorry to bring the thread down, but you hit a nerve...)

The Borg Enterprsie was neat be seemed like a stretch. Many years had passed between BOBW and Parallels and the Enterprise was front-and-center against the cube and protecting Earth. That the ship would survive, even barely, for so long seems like a stretch. I mean, at the very least when is that Riker finding time to eat and sleep?

As for why no ship materialized on top of another? "Something" about the anomaly precluded that from happening.

The 1701-D from the Borg verse could work, if the Federation survivors just keep running and fighting only when they had to. The ship could have lived merely because the hid 99% of the time.

As for no ship on top of the other one: The galaxy is moving, so those other ships were from universes where the galaxy is slightly out of positional sync with this one.

Well, in that universe they may have just been delayed for longer by the Borg after the initial incident in BoBW, giving the Borg and Locutus time enough to assimilate Earth- at which point they ran for it, big time.
